Bubblegum pink,

with a science lab off to the side,

and she smiles,

like she's actually happy today,

as if everything didn't feel like it was set on repeat.

"Princess Bubblegum?"

And her smile doesn't even look faked as she turns to one of her citizens,

all false cheer as these four walls seem to enclose around her

"Yes?" She asked, never letting that smile fall off.

"I just wanted to talk with you." He murmured,

and she knows,

with absolute certainty, she knows completely,

that he can't see how dull everything seems to her right now

If someone could freeze this moment and place it in a frame,

there'll see a princess that's happy to be here,

and she would be,

abosutely could be,

if these walls weren't painted in monotone.

It's never about the outside appearance,

but what's within,

These walls were once white,

and she was once so very happy

that nothing could touch her walls,

the walls of her heart,

and now,

nothing can touch the greys and the dull, faded white,

the broken dark grey cracks of her heart,

and she wonders sometimes if immortality always feels just so dull.

'Even when she knows that it doesn't.'
