A/N: Well here we are, my first Transformers Rescue Bots fic. I recently discovered this show when I was channel surfing with my younger cousin and I surprisingly ended up liking it more than him, being such a huge fan of other transformers ventures. As a result I binge watched the entirety of season one and the first thirteen episodes of season 2. I do not own anything you recognize neither the show , nor characters, nor coffee belong to me although I do own a coffee machine. The only character I own is Windbreaker who is an original character of my own creation. Without further rambling I present Coffee Break. Enjoy and review!
Coffee Break
It was about mid-afternoon when Graham and Cody came into the bunker to see the bots gathered in the corner discussing something with a particular fervor.
"So, what you're saying is, despite the fact that humans recharge for hours every night, they still require this coffee to stay awake?" The smallest of the bots, Windbreaker, was examining the inside of a white cup which the brothers recognized as their father's coffee mug.
"I believe humans refer to it as sleep." Chase said.
Among other things." Boulder looked up from a book. "It says here that it is a bean that is ground up and mixed with hot water and when they drink it, it gives them extra energy and alertness."
"So it's like Energon? They need it to function at full capacity?" Windbreaker lifted his optics from the mug so he was looking at Boulder, glimpsing Cody behind looking at his partner with a grin.
"Some of them." Cody laughed.
"Graham, is that why you drink it when your doing your engineering homework?" Boulder asked.
"I guess you could say so." Graham sat on a nearby chair. "It sharpens focus sometimes, especially after a late night."
"Fascinating."
"Sometimes though, if you drink too much of it you can be... different when you don't have it." Graham continued as the brothers shared a glance.
"Ooh! That's why Kade was so grouchy this morning wasn't it?" Blades raised an arm and at Cody's questioning glance continued. "I heard him keep saying through the comm he needed coffee. Dani veered off course during patrol because of it."
Heatwave sighed. "Funny, I didn't notice anything different."
"You wouldn't." Boulder replied.
Cody laughed. "Yup. Dad's tried to cut him off, but we think he's a lost cause."
"The Chief seems to ingest as much as Kade if this is any evidence." Chase raised the cup towards Cody.
"He only drinks coffee in the morning and during his coffee break." Cody shrugged. "As far as I know."
"Humans have designated times for this beverage?"
"I'm not sure exactly. People have been calling time between when they're working and not coffee breaks for a long time." Graham rubbed the back of his neck. "It doesn't necessarily mean they always drink coffee."
"We should take coffee breaks too." Blades said. "It'd be fun."
The elevator doors opened as Chief Burns walked in. "What's this I hear about a coffee break?"
"The bots were just asking about coffee Dad." Cody said.
"Ah," Chief grabbed his mug from Chase and cringed as he took a sip. "Well here's something you can report. It's terrible when it sits."
