Growing up Inuyasha had often wondered what it would be like to be someone else. Someone normal. Whether he would have been human or demon didn't matter as long as he was one or the other instead of both. His mother had been ridiculed from the time of his conception and it only got worse after his birth and as he got older. As a child the children in the village would play with him. They were nice to him, curious about him but didn't fear him. Not until they were caught playing with him by someone older and were drug off. The next time he saw any child that had been taken away while playing with him, they were different. They were mean, cold and were learning to be cruel. Whenever he lost a friend is when he wished to be someone else or someone who was a whole instead of two halves.
Inuyasha's mother knew how things were for him because of how things were for her. She tried to make his childhood easier for him but she could only do so much. He was going to have to learn to defend himself and stand up against the beings that tried to put him down. She knew she wouldn't last as long as he did so she loved him as much as she could and tried to ease his suffering as best as she could.
His entire life was spent in misery because of what he wasn't until he met Kagome. She was the first person to accept him for what he was and the longer he spent with her the more he wanted to be him and not anyone or anything else.
