What's in a Name: Miss Martian
M'gann M'orzz was not an earth name.
Megan Mores was.
The two were not really that different.
Once, Wally had said something about a red vegetables (Robin had corrected him, saying it was a fruit, then launched into a explanation involving seeds, vines and the supreme court)
Her name (names?) reminded her of that.
They were almost the same, slight pronunciation different but not that much.
And Miss Martian was good too. It was a heroes name.
Hello Megan, it was perfect. Wasn't it?
Some small part of her didn't agree. It was a slippery slope. From M'gann to Megan to Miss Martian.
She had gone from an ordinary Martian Girl to an ordinary earth girl but then to a decidedly not ordinary Martian.
She wondered if she was losing a part of herself, and what part she was losing?
Her martian heritage? Her normality? Her individuality as a person, traded in for individuality of a species?
Was it really that big a deal? Was she thinking this whole different name thing through to much.
Did it matter?
She was the last one any way. The last little Martian girl. She could never be an ordinary Martian girl again.
So maybe sometimes she could be ordinary Megan. Sometimes she could be a Martian hero: Miss Martian.
But M'gann M'orzz was gone.
A/N- Not sure how happy I am with this. It just seems off to me. I guess because I knew I could write something for her, but I wasn't sure what. What do you think? Review and let me know.
