The hard wall behind, holding his weight was slowly slipping away. Or maybe it wasn't the wall, perhaps it was his mind. Unsure and unable to tell, Elijah allowed his body to slip down the wall. He had lost his younger brother. The brother he swore to protect.

Niklaus had been doing something stupid, as he always did, and Elijah had thought nothing of it. He hadn't even bothered to truly look into it, figuring it was already under control. Though something felt different, at least this time it did. Remember Rebekah's words, he closed his eyes tightly. He wouldn't admit it to himself, nor would he admit it to anyone else. But he felt it was purely his fault.

His fault that his brother no longer walked this earth with the rest of them. He had already lost two brother's in such a short amount of time. Two brother's that he was meant to protect and keep safe, and he had failed them both. How would he forgive himself for this? How would the family move past this. He understood Rebekah was torn about this. Niklaus and her had been very close, and she had lost such a big part of herself. Even if she may not admit it.

He had failed his siblings He had failed Niklaus.

Which in turn meant he had failed himself.
