Kit walked into the library, determined to finish her Herbology report. It was due the next day, and she'd been putting it off. She sat down at an empty table and opened one of the books she'd picked out, tucking her brown hair behind her ear. She began to read, and had gotten halfway through her report when a familiar blonde boy sat down at the table across from her.
"Hi, Draco," she greeted, offering a little smile.
He nodded at her in response and opened his own book and began reading. She looked back down and tried to read her book but no matter how hard she tried to focus, she kept looking up at him and then quickly back down to the text. Why had he chosen to sit at her table? She had been crushing on him for months now, but she hadn't even had the courage to tell her friends, and now here he was sitting at her table. She fidgeted a bit in her seat, trying to write her report. One word...two words...three words...she looked back up at him. His blonde hair falling almost in a mess, those gorgeous eyes - wait, he was making eye contact.
Her cheeks turned a deep shade of pink at the realization she had just been caught staring, and she quickly returned to what she was doing. She hoped, wished, prayed he hadn't noticed her staring, but she knew he had. She'd been busted. She stared at him often. She would always sit at the Hufflepuff table at breakfast, lunch and dinner to be directly in line with his seating, so that she could stare at him from across the Great Hall. In the one class they shared, Potions, she would try to sit as close to him as possible without being caught. Yet here he was, this close to her, and she had the perfect view of him, and she'd stupidly been caught.
The blonde closed his book abruptly, and Kit knew she had ruined it. She could've stared at him discreetly, possibly for hours, but she'd ruined it all. Just great. She wanted to kick herself and-wait...he pulled the chair out next to her and sat down, his elbow resting on the table, his head resting on his hand. She looked up to him, her cheeks about 20 shades darker pink than they should've been.
"D-did you need something?" she stuttered, her heart beating faster and butterflies battling in her stomach.
"No. I just figured you'd want a closer look," he replied smugly.
"I'm-I'm sorry for staring," she shyly apologized.
"Don't be sorry. If I minded you staring, I would've sat at another table. I figured that you could get a better view here than in Potions class."
More embarrassment.
"You know, you don't look half bad with that deer-in-headlights look on your face," he smirked.
She wanted to die. Completely die.
"I'll see you tomorrow in class, Kit," he stood to leave, giving her a quick kiss on her reddened cheek before he walked away.
Had that just happened? Draco Malfoy...just gave her a kiss on the cheek? She'd never get her essay done now. And honestly, she didn't care. She had just gotten a kiss on the cheek by Draco Malfoy.
