Shippo watched Rin closely as she did Kaede's wash in the stream. Her hair was pulled back in the way of a miko, her white sleeves tied up around her shoulders as she worked in the spring sunshine. The weather was mild with a warm breezed blowing her scent in his direction. He breathed it in deeply, allowing his eyes to haze over as he groaned deep within his throat. She smelled absolutely delicious. Turning, Shippo returned to his hiding place in the trees, thinking over the past winter.
Last autumn, after keeping a close eye on Shippo and Rin all summer, Kagome had persuaded Inuyasha to pull Shippo aside and explain sex to him. She reasoned that the longer Rin was in the village the more it seemed she and Shippo were getting closer to each other. It had been 5 years since Sesshomaru had left her with Kaede, allowing Rin to make the decision to stay as long as he visited often. Unbeknownst to the children, Sesshomaru told Kagome and Inuyasha any relationship between his ward and the unruly kitsune was expressly forbidden.
At first the children were virtually inseparable, growing up and spending all their time in each other's company. However, Kagome had noticed over the summer they were exchanging small touches, secret smiles, and blushing when they looked at each other. Reminding her mate of Sesshomaru's request, she said it was time Inuyasha explain sex to Shippo and tell him, under no uncertain terms, is he to become involved with Rin in any way more than the simple friendship they had always shared. She did not want any harm to come to her own ward if she could prevent it.
Unbeknownst to Shippo, while he was having his conversation with Inuyasha, Rin was having a similar one with Kagome. She received her own education from the miko on the workings of a woman's body, then was told of Sesshomaru's decree. At the time Kagome's words concerning her friend didn't seem to faze Rin. Shippo was her very best friend. All this sex stuff? It was gross and no way was she letting any boy put his penis anywhere near any orifice on her body. Satisfied, and laughing under her breath, Kagome had sent the child off to find her playmate; assured boundaries were firmly in place.
Over the winter Rin had experienced her first monthly cycle and Inuyasha warned Kagome the girl's scent was changing, as well as the kit's. By spring it was all the couple could do to keep a respectable distance between the young adults. This forced Shippo to result in spying on Rin, hiding in trees to watch her, and hopping down undetected to catch her scent on the breeze. Now, as he found himself again in a tree, watching her from the corner of half closed eyes, an idea sprouted in his head. Leaping soundlessly to the ground, he crept his way toward the girl. With a sudden burst of energy he raced toward her, captured her from behind and covered her mouth with his hand. Picking her up he raced into the trees so they would not be seen. Sitting Rin on her feet Shippo reached for the color of her chihaya pulling it roughly aside. Before she could stop him he bit down on the pulse point of her neck, marking her.
"Shippo!" Rin scolded. Letting go, Shippo turned Rin to face him, smiling triumphantly. "You don't have to keep marking me! I already said I would mate you come autumn."
"Just making sure you don't forget, wench." Rin laughed, leaning in to kiss her intended.
