"James".

"James".

"JAMES!".

James let out a small yelp and sat upright with a start. "Good god", he thought, "What on earth is wrong?"

He flung his right arm out to the bedside table, desperately feeling around for his glasses. Finding them, he brought them up to his eyes, and saw a handsome boy with shiny grey eyes and long black hair looming over him.

"Alright there Prongs? You seem a bit startled", said the boy. It was Sirius, James´ best friend. "Because you bloody woke me up shouting, Pads" James grumbled, annoyed about being disturbed. "Why did you wake me up anyway?"

This was the third summer Sirius had spent with James, and James had never been woken up by Sirius. Usually Sirius would sleep till noon, sometimes snoring or mumbling in his sleep. "We´ve got school, you tosser", Sirius replied, making no effort to disguise his deepening smile. James had clearly forgotten, but James no longer looked disgruntled- he looked happy.

He frankly couldn't wait to get back to school. He had one last year left at the place that, he with all his heart, called home. He had one year left of pranking, quidditch and one year left with his three best friends. One year left to change Lily Evans mind about him. He had been named Head Boy (god knows why, although he had greatly improved his behavior recently), and along with that, he also had to study in preparation for the wizarding exams, the NEWTS.

This was going to be a tough year, but even so, he was exited. Therefore, when Sirius left the room grinning and whistling a happy tune, James jumped up from his soft bed, stuck his feet into a pair of jeans, pulled on a navy blue print t-shirt, and ruffled up his already messy black hair. Then he quickly packed the remainder of his belongings, before following Sirius suit down the stairs, and into the kitchen.

James and Sirius arrived early at Platform 9 and 3 quarters. There were not yet very many students to have boarded the train, and there were only a few families on the platform. James, who had to meet the Head Girl on the train at 10 o´clock said a heartfelt, and much too early goodbye, to his parents, and left Sirius with them, promising to come find him on the train when he finished his Head Boy duties.

After storing his trunk away, James walked through the train, towards the front, where he was to meet the new Head Girl. He pondered over who it could be- surely not a Slytherin, they were rarely picked for head positions, but perhaps a Hufflepuff or even another Gryffindor. He just hoped it would be someone nice- and preferably someone with a sense of humor. As he walked through the next carriage, a few gleeful second years raced by him. A Chocolate Frog fell from one of the boys' pockets- the boy didn't notice, so James only felt guilty for taking it for a second. Straightening up he opened the frog and munched one of its legs. Then he opened the door to the prefect's compartment.

Inside the compartment was lovely, with satin cushions in the house colours, and draping's in front of the windows. There was even a table full of wizarding pastries and lollies, but none of these things caught James attention. His attention was fully directed at the girl sitting cross-legged at the back of the compartment. The girl was beautiful, with long and thick red hair, long eyelashes and a smattering of freckles over her nose. She raised her eyes to meet his. They were bright green. Lily Evans. It was Lily Evans, the one girl that had ever meant anything to him. She was the Head Girl. That meant he was going to spend the entire year – living, eating, working together, with her. He honestly couldn't be happier. He had the chance to show her that he wasn't just the arrogant toe- rag that she thought he was. For a second they started at each other. Then she opened her mouth.
