HAPPY SPIRK DAY! Even though if you're reading this, it's probably now September 16th ... you know when you have something written, and you want to post it on a certain day, but then you just have NO TIME AT ALL to type it up and then you do at 10 pm and you just know it won't have the effect you wanted it to ... yeah. Saddddd.
do not own Star Trek, nor Spock nor Kirk nor ... well, anything except the Porory, the name of which is a bit of a reference to something. Ten Spork Points if you can guess what! Yeah, whatever. Okay.
Spock tried in vain to quash his feeling of apprehension as he approached his quarters. The Captain had been smirking and winking at him, which could only mean one thing: he had not, as a stereotypical human male, forgotten the significance of the current date, and Spock could be sure to find a surprise waiting for him in his quarters.
Spock was not fond of surprises. They were illogical.
So it was with great trepidation that he entered his quarters. And was please to have been proven wrong. There were no glaring lights, nor blaring music, nor colourful streamers.
There was, however, a large, plush, bear-like creature in the middle of the room.
Relaxing, Spock made his way to the plush creature. In light of Jim's usual method of celebration, This was a rather pleasant surprise.
The bear looked much like an earth panda, except it was coloured green rather than black and its ears were pointed. Leaning against it was a PADD displaying a familiar, slightly untidy scrawl.
Hey, Spock! it read. Guess what day it is? It's our anniversary, remember? Well I bet you do; you remember everything. do you like your gift? It's a Porory. They're native to Thetoid VI. Apparently they're really popular with Terran tourists because they look like pandas. Anyway, this one's name is Spirk because he's like a joining of us. Spock, Kirk, Spirk … yeah? But the thing is, he is like us because he's cute and cuddly like me and green and pointy-eared like you!
Happy Anniversary!
~Jim
Spock put down the PADD and looked at Spirk. It looked very soft. He reached out to touch it. It was very soft. It was also large enough and in such a position that it may have made a comfortable reading chair. Spock decided to grab some reading material and try it out.
Spirk, as it happened, made an incredibly comfortable reading chair. The glaring lights and blaring music and colourful streamers than accompanied Spock's sitting down were decidedly less pleasant.
