Timeline: A sort of sequel to "Poison's Paradise".
She forced down the tears threatening to well in her eyes as she stared down into the green irises of the woman with whom she'd fallen in love. She had gone against her every belief, but she had fallen for Pamela. She'd fallen head over heels in love with her enemy, the very woman she'd been working undercover to capture.
"It doesn't have to be this way." Ivy smiled at her; her beguiling look made Barbara shiver inside. Her gaze, her smile, her very touch was poison, and yet there was nothing she wanted more than to be enveloped by that poison forever more.
But she had a job to do. Poison Ivy's eyes shot wide, her vines snapping wildly, as Batgirl handcuffed her. "You're right; you could have gone good."
"At least I'm not the one following men's orders."
The insult bit at first, but Batgirl raised her head proudly. "You should try it some time. Maybe then we could be together." She pushed her to the waiting police, turned her back, and walked away, Ivy's present screaming insults and past lover's cries echoing in her ears.
Batman stepped in to intercept her, Robin on his heels. "Are you okay?"
"I will be," she answered calmly, refusing to look up at them or back at Ivy. Turning, she swung away into the night. She was strong. She would be okay. But she would never forget the glowing love and steamy passion of the last few days spent in Poison's paradise.
The End
