Shadow looked on as Brain finally crossed over. She wanted to be sad. She really did. But she couldn't. She could tell he was really happy. Your probably wondering how she got to this place. Well let's begin at the beginning.

Shadow could see ghost since the day she was born. She didn't know why but she just could. So dealt with it. And she learned to control her power. That is to say she didn't go telling people every time she saw one any more.

Then she met him. His name was Brain and she met him at a baseball game. She loved sports so her dad decided to treat her to a nice time out. While waiting in the lines for the rest rooms she looked over and there he was standing there right next to her.

"Hey," she called. "You can't be in the girls bathroom line."

He looked up startled. "You can see me?" he asked as though he wasn't standing right there.

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

"I think I'm dead."

It was then that it struck her. This beautiful looking guy was a ghost. He didn't look like any of the others she had seen.

"Can you help me cross over to the other side?" he asked. "I don't really belong here any more."

"I can," she answered. "Ghosts usually don't cross over because they have unfinished business. What's your unfinished business?"

"I don't really know."

The next two months went by with Brain and Shadow trying every possible thing they could think of to cross him over. Everything from talking to family to unfinished history homework. Nothing seemed to work.

"I don't get it," said Brain. "All of those things should have worked."

"Brain have you been kissed before?" she asked.

He looked at me startled. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"Just answer the question, Ghost boy," she replied rolling her eyes.

"No."

I know ghosts are supposed to be non-solid type people. But with God as my witness when Shadow leant over and kissed Brain she didn't go right through him. Shadow was disappointed when she had to break the kiss to get air.

"I think that was it," said Brain. "i'm starting to feel funny. Like I'm there but not there. You know?"

"I know," said Shadow.

And Shadow watched on as Brain crossed over. She wasn't sad. She was happy. Happy that she got to know him. Happy that she could help him. And happy that while helping him he ended up helping her. She would always remember her ghostly boyfriend of two months.
