Green Thumb
She had loved the house from the moment she saw it but the drawing point of the house had been the sea view. Emma had known that Killian needed to be near the water. Especially now that the Jolly Roger was back in his pocession. Yet it turned out that the property also had a small greenhouse attached to it.
Emma had given a passing thought to growing vegetables in the greenhouse but had gotten busy and not thought about it again. Every now and again she caught sight of it out of the corner of her eye and pushed aside thoughts to go in there and consider what it could be used for.
About six months after they moved in, fresh cut flowers started appearing on the dining table and fresh vegetable in the fridge. Emma assumed that Killian was rising early and either buying them for or stealing them from someone's garden. Nobody had ever gotten her flowers and it was just one more thing Killian did that made her feel special.
That morning she awoke to find a stunning pure white orchid on her pillow. She had never seen any orchids around Storybrooke so wondered where Killian had gotten it from.
She searched for a vase to put the flower in and started breakfast. Henry staggered into the kitchen half asleep. "Morning Kid."
Henry grunted something that could have been Good Morning before sitting down at table. One hot chocolate later and Henry could speak in more than grunts.
"Hey, do you know where Killian got the orchid from?" Emma put a plate of pancakes down in front of her son.
"Probably the greenhouse." He looked up and saw his Mother's shocked expression. "Haven't you been in there? He's got all sorts of flowers growing in there. There are some vegetables growing in there too. I thought you knew because he said you wanted a vegetable garden."
"Well, I thought about it for like two seconds when we first moved in but I never got around to it and then I forgot." Emma never really thought of Killian as having a green thumb or that he had heard her mumbled comment.
"Guess he didn't." Henry nodded towards the greenhouse. "I think he's in there at the moment."
"I thought he had gone to work." Emma headed out to the greenhouse. The sight that met her when she walked in left her speechless. How had she not known he had been doing all of this?
"Morning Love." He leaned down to kiss her Good Morning. "I told Granny I'd take her some carrots. You don't mind do you?"
"Killian, I didn't even know you had done all of this. Of course I don't mind." Everywhere she looked something beautiful was growing.
"Well, I knew you didn't have the time so I decided to try my hand at it so to speak." Killian hadn't expected Emma to be so pleased at his efforts. "Henry helped a little as well." At least as far as letting him know which vegetables Emma didn't like.
"It's gorgeous." Emma threw her arms around her multi-talented boyfriend. "I have to go to work, but thank you."
"You are most welcome Love." Killian kissed her goodbye. There wasn't much he wouldn't do for his Swan. Especially when it got this kind of reaction.
