Angel of the Underworld
by She's a Star
A/N: I wrote this for our Valentine's Day sonnet in Language Arts, and naturally I had to base mine on Moulin Rouge, seeing as I have no real love life or anything. :) It's kinda...bad. Well, really bad. But oh well. I haven't posted anything MR related (or anything at all, in fact) for a while now, so you're just going to have to suffer through it. *MWAHAHA* Don't worry. It's only 14 lines.
A single red rose in ivory hands
War rages, so torn between heart and mind
Mind shouting of pain, it coldly commands
Heart screaming to fly, done being confined
Trapped within darkness, soul dimmed and jaded
And then there he stands, fire amongst the ice
Bringing back life in eyes once so faded
And she forgets that she'll soon pay the price
For the sweet serenity love ensures
Smiles of secrecy, embraces of bliss
But her heart breaks at the pain he endures
As death tears them apart with one last kiss
Tears fall from his eyes as memories swirl
Gone is his angel of the underworld.
