Title: Would You Mind?
Genre: General

Somehow, Olivier managed to convince her parents to allow Miles to stay for the Ball which was occurring later that evening. Of course she wouldn't have wanted to join, but her parents could be quite firm with her, and for the sake of family tradition, Olivier stayed. However she refused to go alone. As usual, Miles accompanied her.
There was just one problem though: he didn't have any suitable wear. Miles was dressed in military uniform when he arrived. Olivier's father wouldn't have anything in his size, and it was just pure luck one of Olivier's cousins was eager to let Miles borrow one of his tuxedos.
Miles hadn't worn anything so luxurious before. He spent the majority of his life in a vest and shorts. Ishval was a very poor country. To be wearing this was extraordinary. The man couldn't stop glancing at himself in the mirror, viewing himself from side to side. It was a fitted, but simple tuxedo: white shirt, black tie, and a black jacket.
As if that wasn't enough, Olivier's cousin had him wearing cufflinks as well. After struggling to attach them, Miles followed the other male outside the bedroom and into the main hallway where a couple of the guests were, including Olivier's parents, and their youngest daughter, Katherine. The girl would have approached him if she didn't have to stick with her parents who still perceived Miles as something of great distaste.
Clearing his throat, Miles was beginning to feel a little tense. He nodded at whoever walked past him, but most tended to ignore him, due to his skin colour. Plus the man was not an Armstrong, or married to an Armstrong. As far as they were concerned, he shouldn't be here. Miles stayed put where he was, unsure with what to do.
That was when he heard someone coming up from behind him. Miles was expecting it to be another Armstrong who had no desire to do anything with him, but was relieved to discover it was his commanding officer. Although not wearing a dress like every other female in the room, Olivier was dressed very well, and it was so weird to witness her out of military uniform.
Blue eyes travelled down his figure and she pulled an approving expression.
Feeling a little more relaxed, Miles decided to do the only thing which seemed suitable at the time, and outstretched his hand for her to take.
It was a very peculiar action to make. Miles only found out Amestrians did this a couple of weeks ago from Captain Buccaneer. In Ishval, it was most indecent to hold hands with someone who wasn't related to you, or married to you. But that didn't matter. He needed to act the part.
With Olivier though? She didn't seem like the type to be escorted by a man.
Yet to his surprise, she took her hand in his without any hesitation.
For some reason, Miles felt incredibly chuffed when she accepted his invitation. Once they began to walk onwards, the Ishvalan rose his nose high in the air, mocking those around him. Olivier snorted.
'My father will kick you out.'
'I'm surprised he hasn't done already.'
