Natsu sat on his couch, watching some random anime while eating takeout. The rain was pouring outside, and which made Natsu uncomfortable since it was winter, but it was raining instead of snowing.

It's been six months...

Natsu sighed as he took a bite out of his chicken and broccoli. He missed her, God- he more than missed her so much words could not describe.

It had been his own stupid fault, he was a coward. He was too much of a coward to be in a relationship with her.

The teasing.

The hugs.

The trips to the coffee shop.

Their dates.

Their kisses.

Holding hands.

The "I love you's..."

Natsu frustratingly threw the Chinese in the trash, and ran a hand through his spiky pink hair. How could he such a idiot? He was too much of a coward to actually say yes to the girl, because he was too scared. He was scared to get hurt, like he had in the past, but he was even more scared to hurt her.

But it seems like he already has.

Flashback:

Lucy grabbed Natsu's hand and smiled warmingly at him. Yes, they'd been together for a year, but not actually together. She told him she loved him, and Natsu smiled back and told her he loved her back.

She then took in a heavy breath, and asked the risky question that's been tearing her mind for the past year.

"Are we dating?" Natsu froze.

"W-What?"

"Natsu." Natsu hesitated before nervously laughing.

"No, Luce, were just friends like its always been." He lied. he wanted to be hers. He wanted her to be his, forever. Lucy let go of Natsu's hand, and he regretted saying what he said. She had tears already in her eyes.

"I...I thought we were...were together, Natsu. I thought we were together." Lucy's voice cracked. Natsu panicked on the inside. No, he didnt want to hurt her.

Could they just go back to holding hands?

"We are.." Natsu said bravely. Lucy shook her head.

"Your just lying to me now. I cant believe you practically had me all over you! And I bet you enjoyed the attention , huh, Natsu!? You used me! how...how could you?!" Lucy had tears streaming down her face, and all Natsu wanted to do was brush them away but she was backing up from him.

"You don't understand-"

"Oh, I perfectly understand Natsu!"

"Luce-"

"Dont call me that." Lucy glared at him.

"Lucy...I care about you.." Natsu told her, taking a step towards her but she backed away.

"No Natsu, you just...you used me for pleasure. And I cant stand being your toy."

Natsu grabbed his keys, tears stinging his eyes, and slammed the door. He couldn't take it anymore, being away from her.

He walked outside, not caring about getting a jacket or umbrella. He unlocked his car, and got in. When he tried to start up his truck, it wouldn't start up. Natsu cured loudly as he slammed the car door shut and started running.

He was running to her house that was practically in a whole other part of their neighbor hood.

At quarter till one in the morning.

It took him about thirty minutes, since he wouldn't stop running the whole way to take a break. By this time he was soaked to the bone, and shivers ran vigorously though his body.

Natsu started pounding on the door.

"Lucy open the door!" He yelled, and sooner than later, the door opened revealing the blonde headed woman before him. She was wearing some pajama's which Natsu thought was adorable, and her hair was up in a ponytail. Her brown wide eyes stared at him in shock, while he was shivering and breathing loudly from his run.

She was beautiful.

"ARE YOU INSANE!?" Lucy screeched to him, and then pulled the boy inside. She shut the door behind her, and glared at the pink haired man. You would think the 23 year old would have sense to not be out in the rain, AND cold, especially at night.

"Natsu, what are you doing here...?" She asked, sighing as she met eyes with him. They had tears in them, making those hazel eyes glossy.

"Its been...uhm, its been a long six months...Luce.." Natsu said, and Lucy literally stopped breathing. He slowly took her hand, and she didn't pull away. His hands were freezing, and they must be idiots to just stand there right in front of the door. Lucy came back to reality, and snatched her hand away from him.

"Yep." She simply said, crossing her arms over her chest. Natsu sighed again.

"I..I was afraid. Afraid to tell you what I wanted. I was afraid to hurt you, and to get hurt."

"Well Natsu, look how that turned out, you hurt me. "

Natsu took a deep breath before saying; "Remember how it used to be with us? The endless, stupid arguments over the small things, the small teasing. Rubbing our thumbs over the top of each others hands, the pictures we took together that you framed. I'm so...so sorry Lucy. I lost my mind thinking how much I hurt you, and I didn't even tell you why. I was a coward, and I don't deserve you. You deserve someone who will give you what you need, unlike me who left you all alone for the past six months without telling you the whole reason why...why I said we weren't dating. You mean so much to me, Lucy. I love you so much, and I never intended on hurting you at all. And I'm selfish for this, but I want you. I want you and only you. I want you to be mine."

"I.. I want you for worse, or for better. And I understand if you need time to heal before being with me again, if you decide to take me back, but I would wait. I will wait for you, Lucy, forever and ever until the day you fall in love with someone else and I have to let you go so you can be happy. I know I broke you heart, that you were shattered. And I'll try to put those pieces of your broken heart back together. But please, Luce, Please. I love you so much and I will wait for you."

By the time Natsu was done, there were tears streaming down both of their faces, Lucy nodded, and then without thinking, tightly hugged him. They both stayed in an embrace like that.

"Your cold Natsu."

"Thats the first."

"Let me go!"

"Never."

Natsu ruffled the boys hair, and smiled at 17 year old Romeo.

"And Thats how it works, man, Thats How You Get The Girl."
