This is my first english fanfiction. I'm sorry if there are grammer mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters I used in this fanfiction.
Their last case had been hard, and Deeks almost broke his promise to Kensi. Just in time she had managed to throw him down to the ground with her.
Now he was standing in front of his desk with the box she had given him, on it.
"You should open it", he turned and saw Sam standing a few meters away from him.
"I don't know. Maybe it will only disappoint me."
"I'm sure it won't. Besides, Kensi is your partner. I think she is one of the persons that should know what you would want more than anything else in the world."
Sam grabbed his things and turned to leave, but was stopped by Callen and Kensi who just came back downstairs. They had discussed a few things about the case with Eric and Nell.
"Hey, you two are coming with us to the bar? Kensi is paying."
"Sorry G, Michelle is expecting me home early. Maybe next time. See you tomorrow." Sam turned, and walked out of the building.
"What about you Deeks?" Kensi asked.
"I-I think I'm going home too. I'm sure Monty is already missing me." ,he said with a little smile on his face.
Although Kensi was smiling too, she looked a little disappointed, that her partner wasn't going with them. She took her bag.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah."
"I meet you at the bar.", she told Callen before she left.
There was an awkward silence between Deeks and Callen.
"So, you're going to open it now?"
"Um, I'm not sure. I just think that, whatever it is could disappoint me, and that would mean that Kensi was wrong.
Callen nodded. He understood what the LAPD officer was worrying about.
"Deeks, the whole team knows what is inside the box. It was Kensis idea, but she wasn't sure so she asked us. We all think you will like it. Just open the box."
Deeks nodded.
"See you tomorrow."
Callen turned and left to go to the bar.
Deeks let a few minutes pass, before he got his pocket knife out to open the box.
On a lot of Styrofoam which seemed to cover the original present, was a letter lying. He opened it:
When you didn't already put the Styrofoam out, and I'm sure you did, please do it before you read on.
He lifted the Styrofoam, and saw a little picture frame with a photo of his team and him. They had taken it a few months ago at the bar they always went to after hard cases. He smiled and looked at the letter again.
I know it's just a photo, but what I want you to know is, that we are your family now. Or maybe your second family, chose which ever you like. We are there for whenever you need us. Just let us know please.
Sincerely
Kensi
Deeks smiled at the photo. Kensi had been right. She had gotten, or showed him something he always wanted.
A family.
