A/N: Woah, I can't believe it. My first ever Meet the Robinsons fanfiction. I hope you enjoy. I think the Meet the Robinsons movie is highly underrated. I mean, I love it, but after watching the movie again made all the room for so many ideas that have formed in my head. This story is one of those ideas.
Disclaimer: I do not own Meet the Robinsons. All rights go to Disney and the wonderful human being named William Joyce.
Note: I just want you guys to know right now that I deeply apologize for any OOC-ness beforehand.

Meet the Robinsons 2: Back to the Future
Chapter 1: Numb
Year of 2063
Mildred pauses outside the door, debating whether or not to enter the room or not, because what resides within is not something to be poked at or made fun of.
The past couple of weeks have been a nightmare, and it all began with an even bigger nightmare, one that was all over the news. It still is, the elderly woman mentally notes. That's why she keeps the television screen off. She doesn't want the only survivor to suffer even more than they already are.
And this survivor is the one currently in the guest bedroom, the room Mildred is currently wants to enter but doesn't know if she should.
But they need the need the help, the guidance. So she knocks on the door and enters upon hearing a "come in" from inside.
Mildred gently opens the door and uses her motherly voice. "Lily?" No answer. "I made some dinner, if you want some."
"Not hungry," Lily replies.
Lily is a thirteen-year-old girl with long, black hair, her forehead and top of her head under a white and blue ski hat. She currently wears an elbow-length-sleeved blue and white baseball shirt, black tights, cut-off jean shorts, and blue knee-high boots.
Her back faces Mildred, but the woman knows her well.
"Honey, you have to eat. It's been a week since your last meal."
"I will, Mildred. Don't worry. But not now," Lily politely argues. "I'm just not hungry."
That's what she says every time. The first week, Lily was in the hospital, due to the injuries she sustained due to the disaster. Because she was healing physically, the nurses and doctors managed to get her to eat, to regain her strength, but ever since she got here, since she began living with Mildred, she just refused to eat, to sleep, and other things necessary for survival.
Mildred changes the subject, trying to avoid another breakdown.
"How's Chip?" she asks, sitting down in the chair by Lily's desk.
"Well," Lily quietly replies, both of them looking at a sleeping penguin of Lily's in the corner. "Better than I am."
"Honey, I know you're upset about losing your family, but –"
"THEY'RE NOT GONE!"
Mildred backs off immediately and grows quiet as Lily's breakdown finally occurs.
Soon, Lily's face and tears of anger turn into those of sadness.
Mildred goes to sit down on the bed next to her, rubbing soothing circles into the small of her back.
"I know it's cruel, Lily, but sooner or later, you're gonna have to face reality and –"
"Keep moving forward, I know," comes Lily's tearful reply. "And I do know they're gone, all of them, but part of me wants believe they're still here."
"And they are, in a way. They live on in your heart." Lily nods, already knowing that. Mildred holds her in her arms. "And just know that if you know that if you ever need anything, I am always here for you."
"Thank you, Mildred," Lily smiles, as Mildred gently pats her head. When she does, the girl winces. "Ow, ow! Watch the head!"
Mildred takes her hand away, but does not break the embrace.
And they stay like that for a while.
A little ways in, Lily says, "They're wrong, you know."
Mildred asks for confirmation, confused as to what the girl is talking about.
"On the news, on TV," Lily explains. "It wasn't a terrorist attack or a gas leak."
"How would you know that?"
"Because I was there," is all the girl says on the matter.
And Mildred is forced to leave it alone.

Lily's blue eyes are what Chip wakes up to that midnight.
"Chip, wake up!" she whispers to the male penguin, gently shaking him.
"What? What's wrong, honey?" the penguin asks her.
"You know that plan we talked about in the hospital?" she inquires.
"Had enough?"
She nods. "We're a go."
"Okay. I'll go and get our emergency bags ready," Chip says, as he goes down to the kitchen to do so, one messenger bag and one little waist pouch in tow.
Mildred had told the two that if they ever got hungry, they could take whatever they wanted from the kitchen. Money for things was in her wallet. They were free to take however much they needed. And if Lily's wounds were acting up, the first aid kit was under the sink.
Lily, however, stays behind, grabbing a pen and a piece of paper, writing the following down:
Dear Mildred,
Losing my family is all my fault. I know what went wrong, and I'm going back to fix it. If my plan works, we probably won't see each other again after this, so while I still can, I'd like to say goodbye.
I want to thank you for putting up with me and my depression. I know it hasn't been easy. I also want to thank you for taking us in. No one really wanted to deal with us, but, being a family friend and a strong woman with a kind heart, you willingly volunteered. I know it's because you used to run an orphanage, but still.
Thank you. For everything.
Chip enters the room, the two now filled bags in tow. "You ready to go, honey?" He's quiet while he reads the note his owner wrote, also noting a familiar red 'R' logo down on the bottom, next to her signature.
Actually, within it.
"Really, honey? You really gonna go there?"
"Yes, really," Lily replies, choosing to ignore the fact that Chip rolled his eyes at the human. "Now, let's go. The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we can fix this mess."
Chip complies, and grabbing their respective bags (in their own sizes), they leave the room and eventually, the house.
Forever Grateful to You, Signed,
Lily Robinson

A/N: Well? Please, review. It means so much to me. Any predictions? Questions?
Also: Would anyone care to tell me where the last name "Framagucci" came from? I know all the elements from the movie and the video game, but none of said elements include "Framagucci", but as far as I know, it appears to be canon.
