Galinda giggled happily, and held the dress up to Elphaba.

"Elphie! It's perfect!"

Ever since Elphaba became her friend, she desperately wanted to help Elphaba out with her wardrobe. Since making ball gowns with her magic wand wasn't her forte, Galinda decided taking Elphaba to some of the most expensive, fashionable dress shops would do the trick nicely.

"Go try it on!" she squealed!

"Fine!" Elphaba grumbled, and she snatched the dress from Galinda's hands.

It was pink, fluffy, and a little bit too short for Elphaba's taste, but she wanted to make Galinda happy. After all Galinda was her only friend. She walked into the dressing from, and pulled her long, navy Shiz uniform over her head. As it fell to the floor, she observed the pink dress closely. It somewhat resembled the dress Galinda had worn to the Oz-Dust ball with Fiyero, which made Elphaba gulp nervously.

The Oz-Dust ball had been Galinda's first date with the handsome prince, and ever since that evening, Elphaba had been well . . . a bit jealous. She was never the one to pine after boys like most of the girls at this school, but Fiyero was different. Elphaba tried to convince herself not to be silly because Fiyero was probably just a pretty face, and didn't have any substance underneath his lazy demeanor.

Then came the night Doctor Dillamond was fired. Doctor Dillamond being dismissed hurt her immensely, and her anger had well . . . gotten the best of her. When Fiyero helped her rescue the lion cub, however, that all changed. His courage and his selflessness really touched her, which pretty much confirmed the fact she was falling for him.

"Elphie? Have you put it on yet?"

"Just a second!"

A small grin spread across her face. Fiyero often complemented Galinda's clothing choices, and this dress was like the one she wore on their first date.

Get your head out of the clouds! But . . . it would be nice to see if he noticed it.

Elphaba couldn't believe how low she was stooping! After all, she was supposed to be the bright, studious freak that didn't chase after boys like willy-nilly. Still . . . Elphaba shook her head.

"Oh Galinda! I really love it!" Elphaba called, slipping the dress over her head.

It fell around her perfectly, the pink complementing her emerald skin perfectly. It was a little scratchy and its backless feature allowed her long black hair to tickle her back mercilessly. She smoothed the frills carefully, praying she wouldn't rip its elegant fabric.

For a split second, Elphaba felt truly content with the way she looked. Despite her emerald green skin, her bushy hair, and her sharp teeth, she felt like she could be like Galinda. A large smile spread across her face as she examined herself in the dressing room mirror.

Nessa always got the pretty dresses, but father would never consider buying one for Elphaba. She was too course and ugly to be seen in something beautiful. She wasn't the person that was supposed to be charming and delicate, and Elphaba accepted that. Very rarely did she want to be like her sister or like the other popular girls at Shiz. However, today was different . . . Today she could find a new person within herself, one that she didn't allow to come out until today.

After today, I won't ever wear this dress again, but for now . . . well . . .

"Come out! Come out! Come out!"

Elphaba stepped out from the dressing room, and twirled in front of Galinda. It seemed awkward, and she felt a tad dizzy after she finished. Grinning cheekily, she curtsied to Galinda, who clapped her hands in delight!

She felt magical.

'Oh Elphie! Finally! You've seen that finding the perfect dress is the most powerful magic of all!"
