A long time ago, I'd promised myself that I'd never be held in a cage or cell. Nowhere, not at all. But to promise yourself you'd never have boundaries is hard when you're someone like me.

I've learned things; terrible things about what might happen if you're ever in a situation like that. And the scary thing is; no matter what any of the stories say, they tell the truth. Never a lie.

I would know. A few of those things happened to mebefore, and I never trust someone I don't know anymore. Not even if I should.

One of the many things I learned, I knew one thing: never say anything. Even if they try to force those words out of you, it's best to keep your mouth shut.

Yet even if you don't say anything, they can't harm you, since, what if you don't live to tell them? That's the best thing, when they want information.

Except for that one thing you should fear. There is, as I found, a disadvantage of them wanting you to speak. That is, if they find the information elsewhere, and they don't need you anymore. Bye-bye! Your fate has already been decided for you. There's no luck for you.

However, if you're very, very lucky, then there might just happen to be something that you only can tell them, so they can't lay a hand on you.

Most of the captors that want information are very secure with their work. Once they're done with you; they're done with you, no questions asked.

So trust me; and you'll find that sometimes you just need to stay out of something, important or not. I know this, as Bree Tanner, past and future captive.
