The Missing Mirror

As usual the barman of Hogshead was wiping a glass. Today a few Order members were there. He looked at Diggle who was cheerfully sipping butterbeer and while reading Daily Prophet.

'So is it true about the chosen one,' he asked a pink faced witch named Hestia Jones who responded by raising an eyebrow.

He clarified by saying: 'I was just wondering what you thought about Harry Potter being the chosen one?'

'I don't know,' replied Jones honestly, 'but why else will we go lengths to protect him and why Dumbledore would give him private lessons–

But she never completed her sentence as she was interrupted by a loud, 'What!'

Alberforth as a rule maintained indifference while listening to his customers. And he never betrayed their secrets. Dragon peddlers, venom dealers and even petty criminals were welcome there. But today he couldn't contain himself. He hardly knew Potter but he knew his brother well and he knew his brother's preference for men over women.

He ran out quickly only to be hindered by Mundungus.

Alberforth snarled, 'What do you want?'

'I wanted to show you this,' said the petty crook and went on to show him some stuff. . He was in a hurry but still stopped by. A mirror caught his fancy, he had a mirror like that and his sister Ariana used to love it.

'I'll buy the mirror,' he said.

Mundungus named his prize it and surprisingly got it. Alberforth was in a hurry and had no time for bargaining.

As soon as he got the mirror he ran towards the castle doors and demanded an entrance. All the commotion attracted his brother: probably someone told the headmaster. Either ways Albus was there.

'I'd like a word,' Alberforth told him bluntly.

To which Albus had to say 'Probably inside?'

'Fine,' Alberforth answered.

They talked for sometimes and Alberforth's doubts were cleared.

He was still clutching the Mirror. Naturally Albus too was drawn towards it.

'You had a mirror like this one,' asked Albus, 'But didn't it shatter?'

'Like our family,' Alberforth longed to reply but instead settled for:

'You remember, I'm surprised but then again you were gifted with a great memory.'

'So this mirror's from?'

'I bought from Mundungus. He says he got it from Sirius.'

'I bet he stole it.'

'This isn't any ordinary mirror is it?'

'No, it's a two-way mirror a communication device. Don't you have its twin?'

'I don't think so,' said Alberforth.

'Well I believe it's with Harry,' said Dumbledore, 'it is possible that Sirius gave it to him.'

'Oh I see,' was all Alberforth could reply.

'Could you do me a favor?'

'What do you want,' said Alberforth?

'Keep an eye on Harry for me will you?'

It wasn't as unreasonable as Alberforth thought so he said, 'Fine.'

With that the conversation was more or less over and Albus gently reminded him that he had left his bar unattended.
