I huffed. This was stupid The whole entire thing was completely idiotic, and I;d rather be anywhere else.

But no. I was at a wedding. And not just any wedding, but Sam and Emily's wedding.

Amd I sat in the corner, watching the happy couple twist and turn to a romantic song.

That should have been me. I should have been the girl smiling at Sam Uley.

I would have talked to Seth, but he was dancing with his girlfriend. Stupid imprinting.

Then, just when I think that I can't handle all of the happy couples, that damn song comes on.

Always, by Atlantic Starr. That song means so much to me. It was the song playing when Sam and I first made love.

''Can I have this dance,'' I hear a husky voice ask.

I did. The dress was as pink and frilly as a carnation. I looked like a pink lace nightmare.

How many times had I thought about having kids with him? A girl and a boy, Lilly and Sam Uley Jr. They'd be gorgeous, and Sam and I would live together on the reservation. I imagined kids sitting around us and playing with toys on the floor as Sam and I sat on the couch and watched on, content.

But those are just fantasties now.
