"Roy... Get up." Riza tugged at the covers of her bed persistently, trying to pry them away from Roy.
"Hnphhh... Why don't you just come back to bed...?" He rolled over.
"Because," Riza said "We have to go to work. If we're late and arrive at the same time again, everyone's gonna be suspicious."
"...Too bad" He sat up. Riza though he was finally giving in, but instead, he pulled her back with him.
"No. WORK." She said again.
"Awwww..." Roy whined "You're no fun."
"We have to go to work. You'll never become Fuhrer if you miss work." She sighed, struggling to get away.
"Umm... that would mean miniskirts right?"
"Yes." Riza said 'you won't get miniskirts either way,' she thought, but felt she didn't have to say that out loud, because it would just make him feel even less like going to work.
No one could know. After all it was inappropriate, a superior and a subordinate. But when there was not a person around they were together. Touches that were nothing to the naked eye, words whose secrets were not revealed to anyone ordinary. When he pressed his palm against her lower back as she left seemed innocent, but it meant longing and love a concealed connection. When she said "Hayate will need walking today, sir" it truly meant, "no time together unless you walk the dog". When everyone was elsewhere his words became tender, private. "How about I cook tonight, babe?"
"HEY, 'morning Mustang, Morning Lt." Havoc greeted the 2 as they finally entered the office
"Hello, Lt.Havoc," Riza said calmly.
"'morning" Roy replied.
"What, Why are you so grumpy?" Havoc inquired.
"Maybe he didn't get enough sleep." Riza shot him a little glare.
"Yah, I GUESS." Roy yawned.
Riza left the office shortly after, to get some coffee and more paperwork.
"...so... kind of late again eh?" havoc snickered.
Roy grumbled, and proceeded to ignore his work.
"What's up anyways? Whenever you're late, so is Hawkeye. Why is that?" the 2nd lieutenant grinned, with his cigarette hanging from his mouth.
Roy wasn't about to answer that, and even if he was, he didn't have time. Because in that precise moment, Fuery and Falman returned to the office.
Only Fuery knew. It was an accident but, what was done, was done. He came over because she had asked him to take care of Hayate. Only a few hours early, so Roy had opened the door. In pajama. How do you talk your way out of that? Kain had tried to break the silence. "Go-o-d eveni-i-i-ing Si-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-r" but riza had made it work out. She talked to Kain and convinced him not to say a word. And so it had become his normal, to come home to their home and watch movies in his pajamas with her and the dog on the couch. But normal was overrated. Secrecy was twice as good.
Roy and riza sighed and snuggled closer in bed. Yes, some things were better than normal and public.
