Kiss Me

"Kiss me."

It was a simple statement, two words. The message wasn't too complicated, but I failed to understand nonetheless. I wanted to say "What?" but the best I could muster was a "...uhwha?" I stared at her, but she looked ahead, her cheeks tinged with pink. She seemed annoyed.

"It's a simple request, you idiot. I'm asking you to kiss me, not to explain the flight trajectory of a-- Gah, forget it, this was a mistake. I'm out of here."

She started to walk off. I panicked.

"WAIT!"

"Goodnight, loser."

She kept walking, almost out of my reach. I panicked some more, this time I grabbed her-- pulled her toward me and leaned in, placing my lips on hers. I couldn't help but be surprised when I didn't bang my teeth into hers. I couldn't tell what her expression was, or how she precisely reacted, since I had shut my eyes after taking her hand into mine. Her lips were soft, and I felt a warmth beyond the contact of our bodies. Her fingers intertwined with mine and I heard a boom above. We pulled away slowly, looking at each other, slightly wide-eyed. Then she leaned on the railing of the bridge and looked up at the show of lights above, like nothing had just happened. I didn't know how to react, but somehow, I was sitting on the railing, watching the fireworks flash above. I must have decided to take a seat or something-- How didn't I didn't fall into the water?

No matter.

Her hands were still clasped in mine.
