Hey guys! It's Crane here with my first story! Hope you enjoy.
11 year old Amber Kilbern sat on her bed staring blankly out of her window. Amber was a quiet girl with short, red hair and bright amber eyes. She lived in a small cottage just outside a village in the country with her mother, father and sister, Jade. Jade was 14 years old and had long blonde hair, jade eyes and glasses. They were good friends but today they had had an argument over whose eyes were most like their names. Jade won the argument but now had to go and get the shopping from the village. Amber's eyes were her favourite feature, along with her red hair, so she was upset Jade had bested her.
She stood up and went through to the little extra bit of her room, which she used as a library. This was the only part of her room which was always very organised. She selected a book from the mythology section and sat down on her wooden stool to read it. The book was called Sparks. It was about all the mythical creatures anyone could dream of. She had read this book what seemed to Jade and her parents a thousand times, but Amber still enjoyed reading it. At the end there were fact files on all the creatures in the book and some that weren't included. Her favourite one was the Dragon. It was described as fierce and heartless, but Amber believed that there were kind Dragons somewhere, either in this world or another.
By the time she had finished the fact files, Jade had been back for a long time. Eventually she grew tired of Amber sitting in her room reading the same book as she always did.
"Amber! Stop reading that book," Jade shouted, barging the door open. "It's the same one again, isn't it? Mum says that you've to go into the village to get the things that I forgot about." Amber didn't even flinch an continued reading the author's note.
"Amber. Amber!" Jade said, raising her voice. "Earth to Amber! AMBER! COME IN AMBER!"she yelled in Amber's ear.
"Ow! Ok, ok! I'm here! No need to shout!"Amber said lifting her head. "What do you want?"she asked.
"Go in to the village and get the stuff that I didn't. And be quick about it!" Jade snapped.
"Teenagers,"Amber muttered as she got up and reluctantly went through to the living room where her parents were sitting.
Her mum was watching the little TV and her dad was reading the newspaper.
"Hello honey," her mum said. "So are you going into town?"
"Yes. What do I need to get?"asked Amber. "I'll need the money too."
She handed her a list of things to get and told her to get some money from Dad. Amber went over to her dad and said, "Dad. Mum said I had to get some money from you."
He lifted his head and said that she could get what she needed from his wallet, which he handed to her slowly. Amber sighed. Then an idea popped into her head. What if… What if I went looking for Dragons before I get the shopping? I could say that there was big queues at the tills, she thought. That is what I will do.
"Bye Mum! Bye Dad!"she said. "BYE JADE!"she yelled up the hall before running out of the door and down the path to the village.
When Amber reached the village, she heard screams coming from the centre of the village. She ran towards the middle and stopped dead. I didn't have to look very far, she thought. Standing in the middle of the little country village, clear as daylight, was an actual, real live Dragon! And it was flying at her with it's claws outstretched, ready to pick her up an carry her off in to the distance.
Oh no! Amber has been Dragon-napped! I wonder what will happen? This is Crane with the first chapter of SMCBR. What a mouthful! Bye!
