Happy Late Single Awareness Day, everyone! I hope you guys are all having fun. I'm in academic hell waiting to find out what high school I get into, so this was naturally a piece produced in forty minutes. The song I used was Tears by Ai Otsuka--my favorite song of hers, so I hope you enjoy! I put this together in an hour, but my mom kicked me off my computer and took away the keyboard. (I hate when she does that.) This is defiantly not my best work.

Before my eyes, the cherry blossoms flutter about in the afternoon
Before my eyes, we were hand in hand--yours in mine
Rukia sighed and tore her gaze away from her late sister's photo. She walked over to the dresser on the opposite side of her room and crouched down to pull out a photo album from under the pile of clothes. She flipped to the middle of the book, where she had secretly hid the photo. It was Byakuya and Hisana on their wedding day.
The sound of thunder jolted her out of thoughts. She jumped and looked out the small window above her bed. The storm must've been closer than she thought.
She tightened her sleeping robe around her and crawled back into bed, pulling the covers over her head. She wished Ichigo was here--she hated storms. She could always go to Nii-sama, but he was most likely sleeping and the last thing she wanted to do was be rude and wake him up. 'It's foolish to be scared of mother nature', she could just picture him saying that.
She finally became sick of laying in her bed and got up, figuring she would just take a walk around the premise. She didn't bother to put her slippers on, her feet would just get wet from the rain.
That day…
I haven't forgotten about it,
But I think I should say good-bye
She quickened her pace when she neared her brothers room, which was only a few yards from hers. The door was open a few inches and the light was oddly on. She peered in, thinking he left the candle burning, and there was Byakuya, clad in a white sleeping robe--no scarf or hair piece. He was sitting on the floor, staring at a photo placed on a small shrine with white flowers and cherry blossoms placed around them.
His eyes were heavy and she swore that clear tears were running down his face. He sat and silently cried, while she stared at him for a while--he looked so real.
When I think of you, the tears begin to overflow
She knew it was wrong, but she watched silently, not moving a muscle.
"You should be in bed, Rukia," Byakuya said, causing her to jump. He didn't look back or acknowledge her presence like he had been.
"I-I am sorry, Nii-sama," she responded, bowing deeply.
Silence.
"Please forgive me, but are you alright?" she asked, walking up to him. She knelt down to him, which made him look away, as if he was hiding his face.
"It's Hisana-sama, isn't it?" she asked.
He nodded.
"Kanashiminaide," she told him once she sat down cross-leged next to him. She debated in her mind whether or not to advance any further. She knew he was hurting, but she knew that a part of her wanted to hug him, to comfort him and tell him it was okay.
"Kanashiminaide," she repeated and hugged him from behind, putting her chin on the crook of his shoulder while he silently cried.
