Summary: Someone's taking pot shots at the Avengers Tower!
A/N: Yay more Maria, Rain, and Captain America!
"Steve! Wait hold on, I've got the door!" Maria rushed ahead of me and pushed open the door to the lab, leaving a bloody hand print on the thing. "Bruce! Help!" Bruce rushed from his counter and towards me and Rain. "What happened?" Maria was eyeballing Rain. "He got shot! We walked into the building and someone shot my partner!" Bruce brushed the comments off and helped Rain sit down. "Here let me look." I glanced at Maria who looked on the verge of tears.
"Maria it would be better if you went and found Tony." I threw her my card that basically let me go anywhere in the tower. "He should be on the top floor." Maria nodded and rushed off, the door slamming behind her. "Why Tony?" Bruce muttered as he fetched some tools and a few towels while he was at it. "So he can warn people off and shut the building down." Bruce nodded and cut into Rain's shirt, as soaked with blood as it was it parted in a few snips.
"Maria…" Rain slurred; "She's warning Tony to close down the tower." Rain looked out of it but still managed to nod; "They were aiming for you." What? Me! That couldn't be! But, he had shifted right before… "Why didn't you say anything!" Rain smiled; "Not enough time. Maria okay?" Bruce frowned and looked at me; "You two know each other?" I nodded, we'd worked together a few time already; "How his wound?"
Bruce was moping it up; "Its pretty clean, the bullets still inside, but it should be pretty easy to get out." Rain grunted as Bruce stuck a long metal utensil into the wound. Rain looked like he was going to be sick, of course I hoped he didn't, that would just be terrible. Bruce dug around for a moment and pulled out the bullet, Rain grimaced. "Maria's pissed." I nodded at the look of fear and fury on her face. She was absolutely furious.
"This little thing had your card Steve!" Tony said as he hauled Maria further into the room, she apparently was putting up with this because she was worried about Rain, I'd forgotten that Tony hadn't met Maria or Rain yet. "Tony, lock down the building, someone was shooting at us!" Tony blinked and shook himself out of it. "Jarvis you heard the man-go on lock down!" Jarvis made an affirmative sound, Maria yanked out of Tony's grip and handed me my card back.
"What, hey!" Maria grinned at me; "Tell your friend he's easy to pick pocket." Tony pouted and Maria watched what Bruce was doing. "Maria, search and destroy." Maria got a manic look on her face. "Cap, do you want in on this?" I nodded; "Yeah lets get them." Maria smiled brightly as she threw her leg up into a chair and pulled out her glock from its holster, checking to make sure she had rounds in it.
"What the hell? Kids got a gun?" Tony yelped; "Dude shut up and suit up!" The authority in her voice making me think of a drill sergeant before watching her stroll out of the door. "She's got moxie." Bruce commented and Rain chuckled. "Yeah, you don't know the half of it." Yep, they didn't but they were about to witness the fury of a ten year old with a hand gun. "She's right Tony, you might want to suit up." He nodded at Bruce.
"Sir, there are unauthorized people in the building, I believe they are the one's responsible for shooting Mister Rain." Tony frowned and Rain chuckled, "He means me, John Rain at your service." Sarcasm dripping off every word Rain said. He and Tony probably could trade barbs but now wasn't the time. "Alright Tony hurry up, I've got a ten year old to go find and help."
