Why did you save me?

Because I love you.

The conversation remained with him, even now. Hours had passed since he answered Saya's question and he still couldn't get her off his mind.. Was what he felt for Saya love? A year ago, Solomon would have denied he was even capable of the emotion for anyone other than his "family." He suspected at times his feelings for her were more primal than tender. Yet, the chevalier knew that what he felt was much more than lust.

He had fallen for her before knowing what she was. Solomon smiled remembering their first meeting. I was drawn to you even then, Saya. He had not intended on asking her to dance at the ball, but once their eyes met, Solomon could not resist. She did resemble his queen but Solomon hadn't thought it possible that the beautiful girl who looked so out of place at the ball was her. He sensed there was something special her, but never imagined the girl in his arms was the Saya, the enemy he had heard so much about.

But, what he felt when they touched was not what one feels for their enemy. Since that night, Saya had come to mean more to him than he thought possible. When he looked into her eyes, Solomon almost felt human again. He wasn't entirely sure if that was a good thing. Weren't humans weaker than the Chiropterans? Part of what made them so weak were their emotions. The chevalier chuckled at his doubts. I suppose there is no turning back now.

Solomon was her ally now and he would be until their "war" was over. He was certain, if they both survived, he would eventually get what he wanted. And what he wanted more than anything…was her.

Perhaps my motive for helping you, Saya, is not entirely honorable.
