Dedicated to magicmumu because her Muriel's Wedding fic was getting a bit lonely.

Goodbye Porpoise Spit!

It's the beginning of a story, that's what this is. We're starting out on a new leg ('cause God I need some new ones) of our journey. Our lives.

And we're doing it together, just how we should be.

I look over at Muriel, sitting on the other side of the cab. She's still got her head out the window, soaking in our bubble bath of new found freedom. I can't believe she did it. Came back for me. She's bloody rescued me from quicksand.

God, I couldn't imagine spending a whole life in that shit hole even when I had legs. And as for having Tania and her blonde parasites there to "push me around" - what a load of cock.

Muriel turns her head to look at me and she smiles that smile, with those teeth. It's the one that means the Dancing Queen is back, and I couldn't be more thrilled to see her.

I reach my arm out and hold my hand in the air between us. I see her smile get impossibly bigger and my grin grows to match it as she does what I want and interlocks her fingers with mine.

We lock eyes for a moment and I feel her try to compress a shiver. I squeeze her fingers and turn to look back out the window.

Goodbye old life.

Hello freedom.

We're staying at a hotel until we can find a place to stay for good. Muriel's paying for it with her 'marriage money'. We're staying on the ground floor of course, 'cause it's not like the place is made for spinners like me. I don't really give a shit though, long as I've got her by my side I know I'll actually have a life.

All the other guests are on the top floors so it sounds like death valley down here. Well, until Muriel puts on an ABBA tape.

Even if the Dancing Queen's back - why would you ever want to stop listening to ABBA?

I'm happy to just sit and watch her dance. I don't know whether it's the moves or the singing that makes me smile most, or maybe its just that I've got her all to myself now.

She shimmies around the kitchen while putting some noodles on to cook, locking eyes with me every time she faces this way. God she's gorgeous.

She fast forwards the tape a bit, I dunno how she does it but she knows exactly when to press play. And on comes Waterloo.

I can't hold back on the grin as she starts doing the moves like it was yesterday we were up on that stage at Hibiscus Island, having the time of our life. Only, I could walk then, and I feel a bit of sadness, a bit of a frown, start to overtake my smile.

I drop my head to the side and glance down at the floor to try and stop from spoiling her good mood. It only takes a second before she's kneeling beside me, lifting my chin so that I have to look at her.

The worry in her eyes brings part of a different smile forward. She lets her thumb brush over my skin and I blink to keep my eyes open and looking at her, not fluttering closed.

"It's just you and me now, Rhonda." She says quietly. "You and me and Anna, Freda, Bjorn and Benny. We're like a team." I smile and let out a half laugh, half scoff. "We'll be fine. We'll look after each other."

"Yeah, because I'm going to be so much help in that department."

"Hey," she chastises. "If I didn't have you, I don't think I'd have the energy to press play on any tape. Trust me Rhonda, you look after me."

"You know I love ya, right?"

"'Course."

"No," I say it slowly this time. "I really love you, Muriel. And I think I would have died if you hadn't come and rescued me like that."

I watch as she leans forward, smile still firmly fixed. Her breath touches my face lightly a moment before her lips touch mine. She presses softly because this is just the start. Our lives are just beginning with this kiss. She stays there for almost a full minute, before leaning back and taking her lips with her.

"Trust me, Rhonda, the feeling's mutual."
