Merry Christmas 2005
Sometimes, he catches her staring pensively out of their apartment window facing the east. Her Byakyugan would be activated as she stares into the distance, trying hard to catch a glimpse of her former home and family she has left behind. He doesn't know if she could actually see that far – it's all the way across the town; she never mentions it, and he never asks.
It wasn't as though this little habit of hers did not matter to him. It matters to him because it matters to her. There were times when he would stand a little way back from her, feeling guilty for tearing her away from the bosom of her family. She shouldn't have had to make the choice, but she made it for him anyway.
He consoles himself by thinking; they never truly loved her anyway. Sometime, he wonders does she regret her choice.

"Hinata?"
"Hmm?"
Moonlight stream into the room through the open window, spilling onto the white sheets covering their naked bodies. It was too hot to sleep in clothes and too troublesome – they never stay on the entire night anyway.
She shifted slightly in his arms, and inhaled his musky scent. The room smelt heavily of sex and sweat. "What is it, Naruto-kun?" she murmured, at the borders of Morpheus' kingdom.
"Is there anything you truly regret?"
"Hmm…" She didn't open her eyes. Her breathing evened out into a steady rise and fall of her chest against his. Despite all that, he knew she was wide awake.
"Hinata?" he prodded her.
"All of us have something we regret," she evaded his question.
"Is there something you never want to regret?"
Her bright eyes captured his, white orbs reflecting the perfect circle of the moon. "I never want to regret… to have not spent enough time with you… but instead spent too much time doing something as useless as regretting," her long fingers caressing his scratched cheeks gently. Scratches that bore testament to the burden he carried and the destiny he was saddled with upon birth.
He closed his eyes and breathed her in.
---
He would just walk away and pretend he did not notice. He would ignore it as long as it guarantees them the continuity of this happiness they possess now, even if it only prolongs it by only a little.
Because he – Uzumaki Naruto, the future Hokage – has given oath that he'll never give her a reason to regret ever again.
Author's Notes:
It's a very delayed gift to Lucky-chan, whom I was Secret Santa to. I know it's really short, but I thought it was best to end it there. A drabble, I think this is called. :) Hope you liked it. I might write the second part to it later. (There was one originally, but I couldn't get it to flow.)
