A Short Excerpt From Seeing Clearly with the Heart
.
We were always cautious of visitors.
Because no one ever wanted them to return.
Because they are one of the very few who could pose a threat to us.
Because I had no desire to see my family hurt again.
.
The blonde male approached us slowly, with caution. He was obviously taking the three of us into consideration, aware that he was outnumbered. I took comfort in this detail. It was always best to have the upper hand during encounters with our kind.
I quickly scanned over his features. I knew that all vampires were beautiful, but I found myself in awe of the tall and graceful man in front of me.
His face seemed kind, but his eyes were a thirsty shade of onyx. It was obvious that we had interrupted his hunt. I quickly recalled that Eleazar had confirmed earlier that there were no sounds of hikers near this part of the forest, so that left only the wildlife of the Denali parks from which he could feed off. The vampire's search for nourishment would be futile in here.
.
Before I could decide on what to make of the stranger, he stopped and smiled.
In a calm voice, he spoke, "I thought I caught the scent of others here."
Eleazar quickly took a step forward and replied, "You were right…" I could hear the suspicion reflected in Eleazar's voice when he followed by asking, "And who are you?"
The stranger placed a hand on his chest and apologized, "I'm sorry. I have not properly introduced myself. My name is Carlisle Cullen."
.
My brother responded, "I'm Eleazar and these are my sisters." He paused for a brief second to look at me, seeking permission to disclose our names. I nodded. He then shifted his gaze back to Carlisle and lifted his hands to motion to us standing behind him. "Tanya and Irina"
.
The blonde vampire looked at us, seemingly amused and asked, "Sisters?"
Author's Note:
It has most definitely been a very long time since I've updated anything. I am sorry. I know I promised a new story, so it will come. I've just had to rethink some things concerning my story now that Breaking Dawn has given Tanya's coven a whole new subplot. And this alters some things…
Also, what you read above is not really a significant piece in my story. I just wanted to get a tiny excerpt out there into cyberspace because it has been sitting in My Documents, all lonely and such. There is no true plot in that excerpt because I didn't really intend for any plot to be in there. So don't freak out and ask "UGH NO PLOT?... AGAIN?!" I just wanted to give you a little.. sampling of the new story. Hehehe. Anyways, let me know how you feel about that little passage from my story. Thank you for reading!
