A text about Mal and Ben (because, they are so cute together!). It happens just after Ben learns Mal's departure.
Descendants is not my own.
His world was falling, without he could stop it. Mal left? It was not possible…
Ben shook his head. It was a nightmare. But, seeing the despair on Evie's face, he knew it was not a nightmare but the reality, as horrible as it is. He did not understand. Or, yes, he understood and he hated himself. It was his fault if Mal left, right? He put pressure on her, already. And, when she did something for him, he rejected her because she used her magic. He was a horrible king and, worst, a bad boyfriend. It was not illogical if she left, away from him.
But, he did not understand what had gone wrong. A few months before, he and Mal lived the perfect love. And they did not think that everything would change as much. Because, Ben did not think of his responsibilities as king. He was an idiot. A perfect idiot.
"Don't worry, Evie" said he. "We'll find Mal, I promise you."
He did not know that these words were for him and not for Evie. He wanted to reassure himself. After all, al had returned to the Island of the Lost, the paradise of evil. And Mal was good, not evil. She would not be able to stay there for long without problems.
Or not? After all, Mal lived on the island for years. And, inside her, she was a Villain Kids, right? If it was reason she left? If she was evil and loved her life on the island, away from responsibilities, rules and all these things?
No, it was not possible. Mal was not like that. He saw it with his own eyes, all the time they were together. Mal was different. And Ben believed in her without any hesitation.
Yes, she was sometimes wicked, and arrogant, and sarcastic. So what? It was not a problem if the people of Auradon saw her like that. Ben knew Mal was not like that. He knew that since the first day he had met her. Mal was disinterested, as proved by this antidote she had prepared for him, or the day she dived into the enchanted lake for saved him, when she could not swim. Ben had never seen that.
Mal was fantastic. For her, Ben would give everything. As she had left everything behind for he. King or not.
"The Island of the Lost is dangerous, Ben" repeated her father. "The villains' children are dangerous. They are not like you and me. They are evil."
But her father was wrong. Yes, the Island was dangerous. But, not all villains' children were like their parents. Her father knew that, now. Ben knew that since the first day he had met Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay. Yes, they had essayed to make fall Auradon, but they had changed. With their parents away from them, they had tried to be themselves, and not as their parents wanted them to be. They deserved to be treated with respect, and as they were.
Mal might be a princess because she loved Ben but she was not a princess and she did not want a princess. And Ben loved her as she was. Nobody would change Mal. And Ben will prove it by bringing Mal back to Auradon. Because Mal was not a girl of the island, like she was not a princess of Auradon.
"I promise you, Mal. I'll bring you back. Because I love you. I love you more than anything, and I'm sorry not to show it enough. It's my fault if you left. I'll repair my error."
The Island of the Lost did not frighten him. He will save Mal. Because their love was stronger than any other feeling. Their love was invincible.
