Okay, so I know what you're going to say... "You're not going to finish this with three other stories in progress." Well this one will be a "last resort, don't wanna write any other things sooo ZOMBIES!" It is a bit more light-hearted considering my other stories, but the first chapters is sad as hell because it is the zombie apocalypse.
Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings or any zombie movies. (WARNING: None of the fellowship appears in the first chapter, and this first chapter is technically just a set up, so you can skip it, but it will tell you what is happening!)
Now enjoy!
Prologue
If you've ever seen any zombie movie then you have seen the many different origin stories of how it started and all those people panicking and cities being bombed in attempt to save it... well those are the least bit true, because that was before the actual one. First of all: it didn't start in America (surprisingly to me,) it started in Japan. Apparently there was like some chemical leak from one of the nuclear plants and infected a whole company. They were all hospitalized and soon they started to have fevers, hallucinations, and an unending hunger. After a four days of careful care, they all died, just like that. The thing is, like, an hour later, as they were being carried off towards the morgue... They all woke up, undead and killed the doctors and the patients, and soon zombies were overrunning Japan. They sent ships over to take care of the problem, America, the British, and who knows how much more went to take care of the problem. However, zombies managed to get on those ships and America thought it was be smart to trap them on the ship and take them back to study. Well they did, and guess what? Yep, they got out and started munching on everyone, turning everyone into disgusting, nasty flesh eaters that started to sweep the nation. At first the government tried to keep everything quiet by saying it was Ebola again, haha bullshit. Soon though the rednecks caught wind about what happened and their dream came true.
I think what amazed me the most, was how well the army was doing for a while, I mean they bottlenecked them in the north, and it seemed like everything was working fine. Then they made a crucial mistake, they decided to push forward and try and get them up to Canada, but the zombies surrounded them all sneaky like and destroyed the army there. The zombies then made their way south, destroying everything in their way, from Main to eventually my home state Texas, they came and destroyed.
I was at school when they reached my town, they ordered us to stay in the school, but of course some people didn't take that too kindly. I managed to find as many of my friends, and we waited until they breached the school before escaping. Luckily I got my license about two months before that and so I 1: had a car that was decent and 2: I was decent at driving. We reached my house, being the most filled with good food and weapons from my marine dad. I got my dads gun and all the good knives, but we reached a problem, my dogs and cats. I have...well had two dogs and cats. At first we tried to bring them with us, but Nikki, my giant black mutt has hips problem and we all knew that we wouldn't be able to keep the medicine up for her. I did what I had to do, it was quick and the least painful I could do it. My other dog Brumby is a good dog, old, but he doesn't act like it at all. My two cats though we didn't know what to do with either, they both got neutered and so they were fairly lazy and were declawed, so they can't really fight back. We took them though because despite that, they still managed to catch mice and lizards fairly well. We loaded the three in my dads minivan, along with a case of water bottles, refillable water bottles and all the food that would last. I also took the liberty of packing extra clothes, bras, sports bras, pads, and Advil in my dad double bag before changing in better clothing, a short sleeved shirt, mobile jeans, and my dad's actual combat boots that fit me.
Getting in the car we drove off towards Luna's house for her things, zombies already invading the elementary school not to far from us. So we hurried, Luna got her things packed. Both her parents were at work, same with mine and pretty much everyone else's. She got her things and we left, getting to Aris house and got his little sister Dwi, they got some of their Hebrew religious things, small things that can fit in a bag. We left, but when we tried to turn to get the others houses, zombies and car wrecks littered the land. So we turned around and went the other way, using my excellent navigation skills that no one else had to get us on the highway north to avoid the cluster fuck. Now I know what you're thinking, "But girl we haven't gotten the name of yet, north was where the zombie apocalypse started! There'll be no chance up there!" Well it's better than trying to go south towards Mexico for one, and the zombies have thinned out up there from what I heard because of the Great Plains, and the spread out towns up there. North did require us to get past some zombies, but the highway wasn't that bad actually, the zombies came too quickly for anyone to get out properly. Oh and my name is Flaminia, it's Italian, and my friends call me Flame. Now I was tempted to turn around and head south, that's where my moms vet clinic was, where she was working. I knew though that I couldn't do that, risk my friends who were probably my only family left, so I had to keep going, past my dads work where I saw his Mercedes in a telephone pole. I pulled over, my friends came with me, weapons in hand as I approached the car, but I knew he was dead. Blood covered his face, and a shard of glass was impaled in his chest. My friends took the liberty of stabbing his head for me, I picked some bluebonnets, his favorite flowers that always bloom outside his work, I placed him in his lap.
Thanks dad for the leather jacket, and the boots, and the double bag... and the tips on how to survive in the wild, and the shooting lessons. I'll be sure to keep all these bastards alive, don't worry. I wrote that on a piece of paper and laid it on top of the flowers before getting the CD out of his car, he wanted to listen to his music in the car and didn't want to bother with an iPod, so he made a CD of like 100 songs that were old and dumb, but he would sing along, and I would too from the songs I recognized when I was a child. We all got back into the car and started our long journey north.
Whoo! I hoped you enjoyed this! Next chapters not only has the Fellowship, but is funnier too!
