I don't really know how I thought of this. Just kind of popped into my head. Any way… Enjoy! Let me know what you think

Molly Weasley watched as her little girl boarded the huge, majestic Hogwarts Express. Her red hair blew around her face as the train gave its last whistle. Ginny spun around and stuck her face out the window.

"Love you, Mum! I'll write when I get to school!" And with that her baby girl disappeared into the compartment.

Molly stood and waved until the train had left the station. She thought of all the times she had said goodbye to her children- one baby bird after another leaving the nest, only struggling a little before their newfound ability to fly on their own was totally stable. Until they no longer needed a head start from Mum.

Ginny was her little girl. Her only daughter, and the one who had been there to hold her hand every time one of the boys left. She had been like an anchor, reminding herself that someone still needed her to cut the crusts of their sandwiches and tie their shoelaces. What would it be like to go home to empty house? A nest with no more baby birds?

Arthur suddenly pulled her back to reality. Molly noticed that he was wiping away tear, too. "Molly, dear, have you seen Ron or Harry? They haven't boarded the train yet, have they?"

Oh, no.
