New Sister
~...X…~
June 1st
Early in the afternoon, the entire Asahina siblings are all gathered in the large living of their home, and a few were wondering why they were called by their parents. Three days ago, all of them got a message from their parents about them visiting and wanting to show them something amazing that they're sure will make their kids happy. They didn't really tell anything about what they'll be bringing with them, and all they said was that it was something very important. Of course, this got most of them to wonder what it is.
While everyone in the living were waiting for their parents to come anytime, Ema was busying herself by organizing some photos she had taken recently in a giant albums that Masaomi had bought for her. She hadn't even notice the eyes of her brothers all looking at her.
Wanting to have a small conversation with his big sister, Wataru happily jumped down from where he was sitting and skipped his way over to Ema. "Hey, onee-chan!" He tugged Ema's sleeve. "Are those pictures the ones that you've taken recently?"
Ema smiled and softly patted her younger brother's head. "Yes." She replied kindly. Her kind and caring attitude is one of her traits that makes her brothers love her. Most of the guys would say that she's one of a kind, and it's not often that a young girl like her would appear in this world. She's so loving, like an angel sent from heaven.
What they didn't know is that in a few minutes they'll meet the opposite of Ema.
"That's cool!" Wataru happily said and started jumping up and down. "I wanna see! I wanna see!"
"Ah, careful Wataru." Masaomi smiled at how adorable his little brother is as he leaned towards him and pulled the child back to his side. "You can see the photos later after Ema is done."
"Okay." Wataru nodded his head, listening to the oldest without any protest. He sat back down next to Masaomi and waited for whatever happens next.
Sitting on one of the red sofa, Futo gave out a loud sigh as he fanned himself with a light color blue fan with cherry blossom petals as the design. "Ugh…when are they coming? Waiting here for an hour is really getting boring."
"Stop exaggerating." Subaru said, his eyes locked to the albums on the coffee table. "We haven't even been here for less than fifteen minutes, Futo."
It's true.
"I'm still curious of what they'll be bringing with them." Yusuke mumbled as he leaned his back against the sofa and started twirling his bangs. "If it's a dog, then I'm cool with that." He smiled a little, imagining how great it would be to walk a pet to a park and play with it.
"A dog!?" Wataru shot his little head towards Yusuke, his eyes wide open. "I want a dog!" He grinned. It would be fun to play with a dog with his stuff animal.
"Ugh." Futo rolled his eyes as he continued to fan himself. "Pets are annoying. You'll have to clean their mess." His eyes moved towards Ema and a ghost smile appeared on his face. But if it's Ema then he doesn't mind having her as a pet and keeping her forever.
"Well, I don't know if it's a dog, Wataru." Masaomi spoke and placed his palm on Wataru's head. "We'll just have to wait. If you want, I can buy you a pet later on."
"That's okay!"
"What if it's not a dog?" Tsubaki smiled mischievously at Wataru. "What if it's a monster?" Teasing his little brother once in a while is okay.
"A m-monster…." Wataru stuttered as he moved closer to Masaomi. "No…"
Azusa sighed and lightly hit Tsubaki on the shoulder with his script. "Don't scare Wataru, Tsubaki." He said and returned to memorizing his lines for an upcoming show.
"Fine, fine. I'm just kidding, Wataru. Mom and dad aren't bringing a monster with them." Tsubaki smiled and ruffled Wataru's hair before leaning back against the sofa. He then decided to annoy his other twin brother, Natsume. "Hey." He called out and started poking Natsume by the shoulder.
Natsume looked up from his phone and pulled down his lemon-lime headphones. "What?"
"What do you think are mom and dad bringing with them?" Tsubaki asked. "I'm a bit curious to know your opinion about this."
"I don't know." Natsume said right away. "And I don't really care either." He went back to listening to his music and looking at his phone's screen. Even when he was at home, he was still thinking about his work, trying to think of a new game to develop for the company he's working for.
"Heh." Tsubaki pulled his hand back to his side. "You're no fun."
"Ooh! I got it! I got it!" Wataru raised his right hand up high in the air. "Tsubaki, I know!"
"What is it?"
"Another sister!" Wataru exclaimed.
"!" All the sibling except for Natsume all looked at the youngest child.
"Mom got pregnant?" Yusuke said.
"No, you idiot." Futo said. "If she did, she would have told us."
"True." Louis nodded his head. "Why don't we just wait for them? All this thinking is making my head hurt."
The sound of the elevator opening got everyone's attention and all of them raised their head up to the second floor of the living room.
"We're here!" Miwa came running towards the railings and when she saw her kids all waiting in the living room her face lit up. "Hello everyone!" Her kids all greeted her with a smile, the largest one is Wataru as he waved at his mother. Miwa quickly made her way down to the stairs with her husband still on the second floor.
"Sorry we're late everyone." Their step-father spoke with a smile on his face as he looked down at them.
"You dropped this." An unfamiliar voice said. A figure slowly approached Rintarou and handed him his handkerchief.
"….!" The entire siblings' eyes grew wide open at the sight of another young female standing next to their father. She was wearing a gray hooded sweater, underneath is a black t-shirt, a black jeans, and a pair of black and white shoes. She had her hood over her face, creating a scary look on her face when she looked down at them, her sharp, dark green eyes making them tremble a bit, and her long layered black hair was black as the night.
Oh my God! Yusuke's mouth fell as he stared at the person above him. He'd seen scary stuff before, but the way she was looking at him was making him very uncomfortable. It's scary!
"Uh…." Slowly the smile on Wataru's fell and he grabbed Masaomi's arm. He quickly looked away, not wanting to stare at the person any longer.
"Um…mother…" Futo spoke. "Who is that person next to father?" He asked and pointed his finger towards the raven-headed girl.
"Oh!" Miwa clapped her hands and looked up at her husband. "Honey, come down here with her."
Rintarou nodded his head before looking back to the girl next to him. "Let's go. I want to introduce you to the family."
The girl said nothing as she followed after Rintarou down to the first floor. When she got to the living room she looked back at the siblings. Miwa and Rintarou stood on both her sides before Miwa opened her mouth.
"Everyone, I want you to meet Aria, your new sister." Miwa said with a smile. "She'll be living here with you all for now on."
"I knew it!" Tsubaki exclaimed. "I can't believe that Wataru was right! We have a new sister! Why!?" His sudden outburst got Aria to look at him.
"…." She stared at Tsubaki with a blank expression. Yep, she can already tell she won't be getting along with most of them seeing how they reacted towards her just now. Most of them are pretty shocked.
"Let's go, Aria." Rintarou said. "Let's get you to your room. I'm sure you're pretty tired from the long ride." He's only taking her out of the living room because he knows that the siblings would start complaining, like how Tsubaki is doing right now. It'll be better for her to be in her new room rather than staying in the living room where she's not welcomed.
Everyone was quiet as they watch Aria with their father leave the living room, and when the elevator door closed, most of the siblings started complaining to their mother. Asking her what the real reason is for adopting another female.
"Mom, what's really going on?" Tsubaki asked. "Why did you really adopt another female? It's not that I don't like her, it's just we don't need another sibling."
"Yeah." Futo nodded his head. "Ema is enough for us."
"Don't say that." Ema said embarrassingly. To her she didn't mind having another sibling, especially having another sister. It's a good thing for her. She's been surrounded by men and it's getting on her nerves when they start arguing on little things that has something to do with her. "I think it's nice to have a new sibling." She whispered.
"Ema is right." Miwa said with a smile on her face. "I expect you all to treat Aria like a true sibling. She may be a bit scary, but I can assure that she's a kind young lady."
"She didn't look like one." Futo mumbled quietly.
Miwa sighed under her breath and looked at Futo. "You shouldn't judge a person by their look, Futo, and that goes along with all of you. I want Aria to feel comfortable in this place and that can only happen if you all are to accept her. However, if she doesn't want to stay here, then she can live with me and Rintarou."
Futo suddenly smiled. "I see." He immediately started thinking of ways to make Aria hate living in their place. It won't be hard for him to do since he can easily get on everyone's nerves.
The sooner Aria leaves, the sooner he can steal Ema's heart. He doesn't need another sister. He wants Ema and he will get what he wants. So why would he waste his time trying to be nice to a stranger? There's no point.
Or so he thought.
Standing next to their mother, Masaomi wants nothing more than to welcome the new family member, but he was scared. It was probably the way she looks at them that gives him the chill. Or rather he was just not used to seeing a woman looking at him with cold eyes. He had been spending a lot of time with Ema when she's at home and her loving eyes are one of the most beautiful eyes he'd seen in his life. But if he wants to get along with Aria, then he'll have to interact with her and try to see her own beauty.
Hikaru chuckled quietly before walking back to the red sofa. He was the same with Masaomi. He didn't mind having a new little sister, and it'll be interesting to watch the others react towards her. Maybe he can pull her into their game. To see who can get her heart. But that may be a bit cruel. He shook his head and sighed. There's no way he'll do that to a young lady. So he decided that he'll try to get along with Aria as best as he can. He can just enjoy his little entertainment watching his brothers fight over Ema.
"We are done talking about this." Miwa clapped her hands together. "I really do want you all to at least get to know Aria a bit."
The entire siblings all answered some with uncertainty and some just didn't even care. They'll just have to get use to Aria being their new sister.
"Good." Miwa nodded her head once before looking at Masaomi. "Masaomi, I want to talk to you."
"Of course, mother."
In the fourth floor of the Sunrise Residence, Rintarou and Aria are in an empty room. "I should have probably called Masaomi before coming here." He said as he walked around the room just to check if anything is wrong. "Don't worry, I will buy all the stuff you need for this room." He laughed a little but when he saw Aria looking through the window on the other side of the room, he stopped. "Aria? Is something wrong?"
"They don't like me." Aria answered in a monotone. She turned her body to the side and looked at her "new" father. "Are you sure it's okay for me to stay here with them? You know I don't really mind living by myself."
"I know they weren't very welcoming, but give them some time. They're all really nice. Also…I don't really want you to live by yourself. You've live that life long enough, and I think it's time for you to interact with people."
"I've done that before." Aria said. "But all the people around me just moves away."
"But I promise you that this time will be different." Rintarou walked over to Aria and placed his right hand on her shoulder. "Your brothers and sister aren't the same people you've met in the past."
"You know, you never really told me the real reason why you and Miwa adopted me." Aria said, completely brushing off what Rintarou had just said. "If you wanted a daughter, you could have adopted someone younger than me. There were a lot of little girls in the orphanage that wanted to be taken home by you and Miwa that day. I expected the people that goes there to take a child, not a nineteen year old person."
"Well, Miwa wanted a daughter." Rintarou answered.
"You guys have Ema. Isn't that enough?"
"She wanted two."
Aria looked at Rintarou in the eyes, hoping to see if what he was telling is the truth. But he wasn't good at hiding his lie. She didn't want to continue this conversation with him. "Fine, I'll stay here, but you will tell me the real reason someday."
"I will."
"What's all these?" Masaomi asked as he flipped through the pages of the papers that his mother had given him moments ago. He and his mother are in his room because she wanted to talk to him alone.
"Those are just some information about Aria." Miwa replied. "The caretaker in the orphanage gave that to me after I adopted Aria. They're just some basic information about her – what she likes to eat and what she's allergic to. There's also some health information inside, nothing too major. I know I'm asking you for too much since you're the oldest, but you're the only one who I can trust Aria to."
"It's no problem at all." Masaomi smiled. "I just hope I can get along with Aria."
"Oh, you will." Miwa's face lit up, seeing that her son agrees with her. "She's actually really kind underneath her cold look."
"I hope you're right about that."
"Thank you, Masaomi." Miwa walked over to Masaomi and patted his head. "You're a wonderful son."
