Hermione was reluctant when it was first proposed that she trade tutoring sessions with Draco for flying lessons. She finally gave in, desperate to learn how to fly as well as her companions.

One cool fall evening, the pair were studying late for a potions quiz the next day. Upon concluding the session, Hermione longingly stared outside the library at the full moon. Suddenly, she felt a warm hand grab her own and pull her up the stairs and outside to a shed. Draco grabbed a broom with the other hand and pulled a silent Hermione to a grassy patch of land. He took her hand and placed it on the broom handle, allowing her to survey it through touch. He mounted the broom and urged her to do so as well. She reluctantly sat behind him and he soared off into the cloudless sky. Hermione grabbed his shirt and held on tightly as they flew around the castle towers, feeling the air against their faces. However, her release slowly loosened. She knew Draco, whose right hand had found a place on top of hers, would never let her go.
