Chapter 1

Caroline's POV

This. This is something I have to do. It's my duty as a best friend. You always do what's best for them, and that is exactly what I plan on doing. I finally found a witch to do the spell. Alani. She has a spell that will make me switch places with a dead vampire, as long as I am willing. It's perfect. Stefan needs his best friend back, and if I'm the only one willing to help those lost souls then so be it. The spell also us to switch places, but it will be like I'm inside my body still. I would still be able to see and hear everything. Alani should be at the Old Lockwood Cellar any minute now. I had to vamp speed over there to get there on time.

"Caroline, we set for the spell?"

"Yes Alani, I'm ready." We walked inside where she started to set up candles.

"Caroline, line down on the floor. Then we can begin." I lied down and Alani began chanting in what I believe is Czech.

"Duše pro soal. Mrtvý pro bydlení. A žít promrtvé. Nechte jeden stát dvě nebo dásvětlo prosvítat."

No one's POV

The candlelights flickered and a strong wind blew. The candles relit and a gasp was heard. There laid another blond vampire. Lexi sat up and look around confused.

Lexi's POV

"What the hell?"

"Lexi I presume." A lady standing in the corner with a smile on her face asked.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Alani. I preformed the spell that brought you back from the Other Side."

"How? That's never been done before."

"Well only a supernatural being who is pure and light with only good intentions is able to. Not many light that is there?" I repeat what the hell.

"Well who was it?"

"Do you know a Caroline Forbes?" No it can't be Stefan's baby vampire friend. Can it?

"Blond hair, blue-greenish eyes?"

"Yep that's her. Now just say her name in your head and the spell will be complete."

"Why did she do this?"

"First say her name. Then you can know anything."

I closed my eyes and thought in my head 'Caroline Forbes.'

"Lexi. Good to know the spell worked." I heard in my head.

"Caroline? How? Why would you do this?"

"Stefan. He needs his friend, his best friend. I may be, but he needs you. You have helped him time and time again. You make him happy like no one else does. He is lost and sad. You were ripped away from him because of Damon's stupid cover story."

"But you sacrificed yourself."

"Yes. That's what you do for your best friend. You make sacrifices for them. Even if it will hurt you."

"Caroline. You are truly pure at heart. Thank you so much."

"I'm happy to do it. Now when you find Stefan, don't tell him of this. He doesn't need to know and go on a brooding feast. Also, you will have the ability to go anywhere I've been and my room is open to you if you need a place to stay."

"How will I ever repay you for this?"

"By being Stefan's best friend and being there for him."

"Thank you Caroline."

"Your welcome. Now go. If you ever need me just call for me."

I opened my eyes and saw Alani waiting.

"It worked."

"I know. I will be on my way now." She started walking up the stairs out of the cellar.

"Alani, thank you." She turned her head giving a nod in response and walked out.

"Well I've missed being a vampire." I said to myself. In the next second I was out of there. I showed up at the Boarding House in seconds. Why not have a round two Stefan? I opened the door and speed around until I found Stefan.

"Hello?" Stefan yelled. "Damon is that you?" I ran around the room. Finally, I jumped on him.

"LEXI?!"
