Hi! This is my first romantic/ship one shot thingy. I wanted to write something based on this song since it's perfect for Malec. However I have had to remove the lyrics, so I suggest listening to the song as you read ;)

Hope you enjoy it!

Magnus rubbed his tired eyes as they stumbled blearily out of the Parisian airport terminal. It felt great to be back here, especially with Alec. But the High Warlock of Brooklyn still got jet lag. And there was chaos in his head.

They stood on the balcony of the hotel room, gazing out over Paris; the Eiffel tower's lights brightening the horizon in the distance, the River Seine meandering its way through the City of Love. Alec gazed at Magnus with a sort of wistfulness. He'd probably been here with various people he'd loved many times before. Was Alec really any different?

Magnus looked up at Alec, pulling himself from memories. This was Alec's era. This was Alec's turn. Alec's turn to try and love him.

He saw Alec looking back at him, city lights reflected back at Magnus from those piercing blue irises. A sort of understanding seemed to pass between them then, and Magnus whispered, "It's the city of love, you know."

Alec suddenly looked vulnerable in his navy jumper (Magnus still couldn't persuade him to throw all those away to make way for more glamorous garments) as he asked, "How many, Magnus?"

"In the past? Five." Magnus stared Alec in the eye. "Now? One."

He leaned forward and kissed Alec, and the Shadowhunter didn't resist. His arms went round Magnus' body and he gripped it like a lifeline. "I don't care anymore. I love you, Magnus Bane, no matter how old you are or how many people you've been with and I don't care what anyone else thinks. If my family don't like you, stuff them, because that means they don't love me enough."

Magnus drew back a little and rested his forehead against Alec's. "I love you, Alexander Lightwood, more truly than I have ever loved. I can't promise everything, but I can promise that. Just promise me one thing in return. Don't break your family for me."

Alec swallowed. "I'll do my best," he replied, and then they both leaned in.
