~Chapter 1: Thunder and Lightning~

Living with an another spirit in your body wasn't easy. Communication was uncomfortable and much too intimate. The fear of someone knowing everything about you was bad enough in itself, but waking up somewhere and not knowing how you got there was the worst.

Living with only one spirit in your body after sharing it with someone was hell.

No matter what, you always felt empty and alone. Forever hollow. Simply being. Not even living.

That was the way it had been for Ryou after Bakura left. Why had it have to be this way? Bakura had never really been kind to him, sometimes he had even been cruel.

That didn't stop Ryou from missing him though.

~Ryou's POV~

Ryou sat staring at the walls. He really should do something. Maybe he could get a start on his homework, or give somebody a call. Yugi would probably be happy to have some company after Atem left him...

Ryou didn't want to think about spirits leaving. It only reminded him of Bakura, the whole reason he was in this slump.

With a sigh, Ryou got to his feet and walked to his refrigerator. When he opened it though, nothing appealed to him.

He paced across the room and sat on the couch, turning the TV on, but not paying attention to what he was watching.

"Hello?" he called. Of course the apartment was empty. Emptier than it ever had been in the past. How could he get used to this aching loneliness?

He didn't really know what compelled him to look out the window, but he got to his feet and walked over to it.

It was dark and raining outside, but Ryou could still make out the figure, walking half crouched towards his apartment. Ryou squinted his eyes, trying to see better. When that didn't help, he decided that he would just have to go outside to help the figure.

Ryou ran to his door, barely bothering to put on his sneakers before running out into the rain.

"Hey!" he yelled to the stranger.

The figure stopped and looked up towards him, his face impossible to see in the darkness.

Ryou swallowed nervously as thunder rolled in the distance. "Who are you?" he called.

The figure seemed to try to take another step, but as soon as his foot left the ground, he swayed slightly.

"Are you okay?" Ryou asked, taking a few steps towards the figure.

A small scream escaped his lips as the figure collapsed, falling onto his back without a word.

"Oh my! Are you al-" Ryou froze as the lightning flashed, illuminating the face of the man.

Bakura. It shouldn't have been possible, but that was who was lying in front of Ryou. Shaking, Ryou dropped to his knees, placing his figers on Bakura's wrist, searching for a pulse. When he found one, he took a deep breath.

What should he do? If he brought Bakura back to his apartment, who knew what he would do. Ryou looked down, staring at the strangely peaceful look on his former Yami's face.

He couldn't just leave him...

With all the strength Ryou had, he pulled Bakura into an upright position. A soft sound came from Bakura, and Ryou knew that he was awake, but barely. With a little assistance from Bakura, Ryou got him into his apartment and settled him down on Ryou's bed. When that was done, Ryou could tell from Bakura's soft breathing that he was asleep once more.

Standing up, Ryou stared down at Bakura and a feeling of terror washed over him.

What had he done?

~I hope you liked it. I know it was pretty short, but I'll make the later chapters longer, I promise! Please R&R! Thanks!~ FoxEmpress
