*The next day at 7AM Brendan hit's the pool with Lucas for the first of many swimming lessons. He teaches him how to get in and out of the pool safely before moving on to the different types of swimming. He holds Lucas and tells Lucas to kick his legs. He moves onto helping him do the windmill motion with his arms. He can't get them working at the same time but Brendan knows he'll get him swimming by the end of the holiday. They return to the hotel at 8.30 and quickly get showered, dried and dressed before waking Ste and Leah up.*

"We made you breakfast daddy" Lucas says shaking Ste awake

"Awwww aren't you two just the cutest?" Ste says rubbing the sleep from his eyes and sitting up.

"We've had ours and princess Leah is digging into hers now and we've set up a picnic so once you're ready we'll go to the park"

"Yay picnic in the park" Leah yells through from her room

They eat up and get dressed before hitting the park. There's a wonderful playground and immediately both kids run over to the swings.

"Push me daddy!" They both yell

Brendan takes Leah and Ste takes Lucas and they push them over and over again until they eventually get bored. They go on the slide for a bit before having lunch under the shade of a nearby tree. After lunch and a nice relaxing lie down on the soft grass they head back to the playground where both kids dart over to the big climbing frame.

"Lucas, you sure you're gonna be ok? I think you may be a little bit small my man that's incredibly high"

"I can do it. I'm a big boy!"

"Ok, ok" Ste says holding his hands up to show he surrenders.

Lucas runs around Ste and he and Leah start climbing.

"I bet I can climb higher" Leah boasts

"nah uh! I'm Spiderman I can climb super high!"

"Just be careful kids" Brendan calls over to them. Him and Ste sit on a nearby park bench and just chat happily whilst keeping an eye on the kids. After about 10 minutes there's a call.

"Daddy! You know you said Lucas is too small?" Leah yells

"Yes"

"Well… I'm stuck. I'm not too little though am I? I'm just a bit too high up and can't get down"

Brendan stands up with a sigh. "I'll get her" He starts climbing up and Leah wobbles.

"Hurry daddy my arms hurt!" she complains

"Steven, get underneath her just in case" he calls and Ste rushes over

Kids and parents stare as Brendan carefully climbs up being careful not to wobble the ropes in case it makes Leah or any other kid fall.

"Look how high I am dad!" Lucas calls "And I'm not even stuck"

"That's good Lucas now I need you to carefully climb down back to daddy ok?"

Lucas does as he's told and he scurries down the rope.

Leah starts crying. "Daddy I can't hold on much longer my hands hurt"

Brendan climbs quicker and can nearly reach her. Parents nervously chatter below.

The closer he gets the more the ropes wobble. He's almost there. He reaches forward and goes to touch her hand. So close. He touches her fingers reassuringly. "hold my hand sweetie. Take this hand and hold mine but hold the rope tightly ok?"

Leah nods and lets go and goes to grab Brendan's hand. She slips and her high pitched scream pierces the silence.

"LEAH!" Ste screams. Silence.
