Ichigo's thoughts - A random drabble
Today I saw them. Walking hand in hand, with smiles on their faces. It looked as though they are happy. But I know better. She can't be happy with him. She loves me. She told me so.
Her hands were clutching his arms, she was looking up to his face and babbling on about everything. I could clearly see the twinkles in her eyes from this far back, and it looked as though she loved him. But I know better. I feel sorry for him. He was so head over heels for her, it didn't even matter to him that her heart actually belonged to another. Me.
There were uncharacteristic smiles on his face. I never thought he knew how to smile. He wasn't talking much, which is to be expected. But the smile wasn't fake. He was carrying her purse and other shopping bags. He must be really happy to have her all to himself. I know he never thought he deserved her. He is right. It was she, who settled for him. And it was I, who she loves and who turned her down.
Her eyes were bright and big, like they used to be when she would come by my house and I would open the door. It's funny that I've only realised this today. She would hover around me, and always looked at me with those admiring eyes full of yearning. I never really noticed them. But I know now, what they wanted. But I wouldn't give her any of that.
They stopped at a florist, and he picked a nice looking bouquet of flower for her. She was about the start jumping up and down, if it wasn't for the late stage baby bump. I saw him giving her a kiss on the cheek with his one arm around her waist and the other lovingly placed on her belly. I bet the shopkeeper thought they were the happiest couple ever. But I know better.
They finally saw me, when she accidentally turned around. Her eyes went bigger than usual, and it was pleasant surprise on her face, not shock. She pulled him by his shirt and both of them approached me with welcoming greetings. I shook his hands, asked them how they were, asked her how long to go before the baby comes and other trivial things. Before they left he gave me a pat on the back, and told me to come by their house sometimes, and bring my wife and the kids.
They turned around to continue on their way and she never once looked back. I don't know why it felt like something that was once mine, isn't mine anymore.
...
If you havnt realised it yet
She is Orihime and he is Uryu.
