Tessa reached out and touched the gentle, smooth wood of the violin. He made such lovely music with this instrument. Will said that it always reminded him of dying cats. To her, it was the music of the angels.

For he truly was an angel...

She picked up the bow and held it in her hands. This little object was the key. It was the wings to the angel. Gently, she sat it down in its proper place next to the violin.

She looked longingly at them both. She wanted them to play their sweet music again. She wanted to listen in wonder and amazement while Will grumbled and glared. She wanted those things so badly, but knew that she would never get them.

Tessa looked over at his sleeping form. His breathing was laboured. He looked like an angel with his brilliant shininess. Even though he had dulled a little, he still lit up the room.

She knew what was going to happen and she wasn't ready. She looked around the room and knew that none of them was ready. No one was ever truly ready to say goodbye.

He gasped and opened his eyes. "Tess?" he weakly asked.

She leaned close to him so that her face was centimetres away from his. "I'm here," she whispered.

"I just wanted to tell that you that I love you and I'm sorry," he whispered.

Tessa held his hand up to her lips and kissed it. "I know Jem and don't apologize."

Jem smiled weakly at her. "I know, but I-" he paused to catch his breath. "I just don't say it enough."

Tessa blinked hard. She didn't want him to see her cry. "It's okay, Jem."

Jem took a short breath and grew still.

A lump caught in Tessa's throat. She bend over and kissed his forehead. "I love you, Jem," she whispered as tears fell on his sliver head.
