Prue's eyes grew round as she entered the kitchen. Frosting-smothered cupcakes; luscious, layered cakes; and pies of all kinds covered every available space on the cupboards, cabinets, and kitchen, and her beloved sister was pulling out another steaming tray of muffins, her back still to her. "Piper?"
"Prue," Piper said, whirling around in surprise.
"I'm sorry," they spoke simultaneously. They smiled though Piper's grin still wavered.
"I'm sorry, sweetie. Really, I am," Prue continued. "I would have called, but my stupid cell phone's still dead after getting hit in last night's Demon attack."
"We've got to get you a new one."
"And we will. I was going to take you out tonight and pick one up at the same time." Prue's gaze swept over the kitchen, and she shook her head. "But that's not happening."
"Sorry," Piper apologized again, and Prue shook her head a second time.
"No apology," she said, grinning. "We always love eating your cooking. I'm just sorry that I upset you so badly."
"It's okay." Then, she asked grinning, "So which sweet do you want to eat first?"
"None of these."
"Huh?"
Prue wrapped her arms around her beloved sister and pulled her close. "The sweet I most want to eat, my love, is right here." She brushed her fingertips gently across her lips and then kissed her with all the passion, love, and yearning to make up she'd been holding in all day. They were sisters as well as lovers. They would always fight, but they'd also always make up.
The End
