The day before the final battle, Shinichi has a phone call to make. He knew he was in over his head when he was nearly caught by the Black Organization, but that didn't stop his crusade. My first fanfic ever, using my favorite anime of all time and my favorite song from The Fray

This is going to be a ShinchiXRan story based on Over My Head since it fits them IMHO

He has been planning to take down the Black Organization after his first encounter with them back at Tropical Land

The following day will decide if his crusade was worth it all. The FBI, Hattori, Ai, Agasa, and his parents are all supporting him. However, he needs to make a quick call to someone.
With eight seconds left in overtime

He dials a familiar number, waiting to hear her voice. "Moshi Moshi, Mouri Detective Agency" she said. "Ran, it's me" he said. "Shinichi" Ran whispers. "Yes Ran, it's me. I finally have a good lead on this case I've been working on. If all goes well I'll be home within the next two weeks" he tells her. "Shinichi, please hurry up and come home. I miss you" Ran says. "I miss you too, and if this fails, in my study there is a note for you to read. Ran, this may be the last time we talk, so it's about time I told you that I love you. More than anyone else in the world" he replies, praying this isn't the last time they speak. "I love you too Shinichi" Ran replies, with tears in her eyes. "I've gotta go Ran. Stay safe and I can't wait to see you again" he says as he ends the call.
