This is a little tribute to my mother who passed away 9 years ago today. Since I was reading about Winnie-the-Pooh and Christopher Robin today I thought this might be a little tribute to something both my mother and I loved. As well as Pooh standing in for me and Christopher Robin Standing in for my mother.
Winnie-the-Pooh sat in his display case in a library in New York. He sat with Kanga, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore. He always felt happy when children came to meet him and his friends sometimes he heard them say that they looked sad. It was true they felt sad for several reasons, one of the biggest was the Roo had disappeared so many decades ago, that had hurt Kanga worst of all but all of them missed but now that was eased a little by their new friend, an Otter named Lottie, she was from a book someone had written about them. But what hurt them worst of all was Christopher Robin was gone, he had gone to heaven years ago. Lottie didn't feel sad about him being gone because she hadn't been his toy, but she felt sad she would never get to meet him. Pooh looked over at his friends all sleeping in their case. He could see the reflection of the moon in a glass window. He remembered a song one of the children sang from a story about them, he thought about Christopher Robin as he sang: "Come out moon Come out wishing star Come out Come out Wherever you are" He felt a deep sadness as he wished to see his old friend again
"I'm out here in the dark All alone and wide awake Come and find me I'm empty and I'm cold And my heart's about to break Come and find me." He looked over at the mural of the 100 acre wood map with Christopher Robin on his swing "I need you to come here and find me, Cause without you I'm totally lost." He looked over at the moon and stars reflection in the glass of the Library. "I've hung a wish on every star It hasn't done much good so far I can only dream of you Wherever you are." Pooh remembered how Christopher Robin would take him and his friends to the Pooh Sticks bridge in the Wood when he and his father went there to play Pooh Sticks but then he remembered that was just a memory "I'll hear you laugh I'll see you smile I'll be with you just for a while But when the morning comes And the sun begins to rise I will lose you" Pooh Sighed sadly as he continued singing "I use to believe in forever But forever is to good to be true I've hung a wish on every star It hasn't done much good so far" He shrugged and hung his head "I don't know what else to do
Except to try to dream of you" He looked back at the moons light which shone on the picture of Christopher Robin "I wonder if you are dreaming too Wherever you are" He looked at the picture and thought to himself "I'll never forget you Christopher Robin"As he fell asleep he sang the last line of the song "Wherever you are". He slept with a smile because even though Christopher Robin was gone As long as he, Piglet, Kanga, Tigger and Eeyore remembered him and Roo they weren't really.
