A/N: Joshua's thoughts if he'd visited the motel room at the end of 5.16 Dark Side of the Moon. 200 words.
The Blood is the Life
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants" - Psalm 116:15
Lost in thought, Joshua stared at the blood-soaked bodies. Each lay in his own bed, looking more separate in death than they ever had in life. To suffer such a bloody and violent end, and at human hands, was grossly unjust given their lifetimes of servitude and sacrifice, but perhaps it was also inevitable given that life.
He marveled at the symmetry and parallels of their lives. Dean, like Michael, outwardly appeared so hard and driven in his protection of family, yet capable of such mercy and so nurturing. Sam, as was Lucifer, could be so haughty and certain in his own mind of his rightfulness, but not even aware he was the favorite son. So beloved by his father, yet still driven out due to his rebelliousness.
He shook his head and focused on the cold, lifeless bodies. All life was precious, but these were the last of their line and there was still much that needed to be done. He did not envy them their role.
The injuries were so severe that both had died near-instantly, but trivial to repair. As he brought them back to life, he suspected that their future death would not be so merciful.

A/N: Sam's thoughts on Ruby. Set season 5. 100 words.
Ruby
"She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her" - Proverbs 3:15
When Sam looked at Ruby, he didn't see the ex-witch, the demon, or even an instrument in the on-going battle to destroy Lilith.
He saw a second chance and the woman he loved. True, like him, she was tainted, but he knew the real Ruby. She fitted in his life, like she fitted under his arm when they curled up in bed and dared to talk about the future.
He clung on to those precious, late-night moments when they weren't demon and satanic vessel, just a boy and a girl who, despite the odds, had found solace in each other.

A/N: Dean has more than one relic of the past. Set season 7. 100 words.
Refuge
"Any relic of the dead is precious, if they were valued living" – 'Wuthering Heights', Emily Brontë
Dean felt like his life was being stripped away.
The Impala was a precious thread running through his childhood; the only home he'd known. Her warm seats and the soothing growl of her engine had made the blur of cheap motels bearable. He'd always believed she'd transport them to a better life...
He caressed her side as her covered her with a tarpaulin. I'll come back for you, Baby...
Not wanting to jinx her with a backwards glance, he turned and left. He pulled a flask from his pocket and took a deep draught. There were other means of escape.
