Megara slowly walked down the path from Olympus, forcing herself to be happy for Hercules. He had his family back and that was what he had really wanted. Okay, so she did love him; why else would she have pushed him out of the way and allowed that pillar to crush her instead? At least he hadn't left her for another girl like Adonis had – he had left her for his family. And she understood that; he had never really known his family until recently, so it was understandable that he would want to stay with them. And, if she was being honest, she did get a little bit of satisfaction from his return. In your face, Hades, the former slave thought.

She was barely aware that she was being followed until she felt Hercules grab her hand. That slight pressure was enough to shake her out of her thoughts, and she brought herself back to the present just as Hercules said, "I wish to stay on Earth with her. I finally know where I belong."

To say that Meg was shocked would be an understatement! Here he was, reunited with his real family and about to return home, and he was turning it down for some stupid mortal like her? "Wonderboy, I'm not worth it," she stated. "You've been waiting so long to see your family again; don't give up this chance. Besides;" she finished, turning away. "I'm not a true hero like you are."

"Says who?" Zeus asked. Meg was shocked enough to turn around to face the king of the gods. "If my eyes didn't deceive me," he declared, "and they never do, I believe you were the one who pushed my son out of the way of that pillar, even though you knew that you would most likely die. And it was that sacrifice that enabled my son to become a true hero himself."

"I believe you do qualify as a true hero after all, dear." Hera spoke.

Meg's jaw dropped just as she started glowing. "So that means..." she began.

Hercules realized it at the same time she did. "My parents have given you the rank of a goddess!" he murmured in wonder.

For her part, Meg was absolutely ecstatic as she kissed Hercules, with the gods' raucous cheers behind them.

When they finally separated, it took them both a moment to catch their breath. "Come on," Hercules grinned, taking her hand and leading her into Olympus. "Let's go home."
