CRUNCH! I winced at the sound as my high kick hit my opponent straight in the jaw. He was big, but every one of them had a weakness. I watched as he tried to take another swing for my face, and I ducked adding an uppercut to the head and WHAM! he was falling to the floor. I reached my arms into the smoggy air of one of Denver's alleyways as the typical small crowd cheered for my victory.
I had to rush to get my money, rent was due today. I quickly rounded the circle to collect what I had won. I turned to look towards the sidewalk where I spotted Caitlyn, my only friend who was leaning against the left wall, barely clinging to the small amount of sunlight that clung to the city streets.
I rolled the small wad of cash in my hand, " I earned us enough for this month, let's go." I waved Caitlyn onto the bustling sidewalks of downtown so we could head back home. It was the usual 20 minute drive from Denver to Littleton, we dropped our check off at the Leasing Office and scurried up the stairs. I flipped open the computer and waited for it to boot up, I turned on the TV.
" Hey, you're home," Raeven walked out of her room, " What're you watching?" she turned her head towards the large flat screen my parents had left behind.
I turned up the news, " Today the world has fallen into the largest spread chaos it has ever reached. A disease causing the human brain to kill off all other parts of the brain besides the cerebellum and the parietal lobe, the pieces of the brain controlling basic motor skills and balance/muscle coordination. This disease is called the Swine Mutation, it's causing cannibalism and several other symptoms of other diseases such as leprosy, necrosis, and dysarthria and zombistic features that the doomsday preppers have always feared. Scientists say the human race will be wiped out in a matter of months, good luck, and good night."
" Holy shit." I muttered, " Guys, it's happening. I fucking told you all!" I pumped my fist into the air.
