Better Late Than Never
She stood terrified on the busy platform, frantically searching for anyone dressed differently or carrying suspicious shaped packages. She had never been so afraid before in her life. Since she was a small girl her life had been planned out for her, she never had to worry about what would happen next, that was, until now. Now she stood there shivering from the cold and her fear, her belongs packed messily into three matching tartan travel bags and her life behind her.
Spotting a tall man wearing red jogging bottoms and a brown winter coat she hurried to him and politely asked,
" Excuse me, do you know how I can get to Platform nine and three quarters?"
"Platform nine and three quarters?" He replied looking appalled. "April Fool's not for four months, love." Miserably she stepped back and watched the man storm off.
"Platform nine and three quarters did you say?" A gentle voice asked curiously. Spinning around quickly she came face to face with a reasonably young kind faced man wearing a well worn outfit consisting of dark suit trousers, a blue shirt and a grey jumper. She studied him for a moment noticing that he looked, well.normal.
"Er.yes." She stuttered unsure whether or not she was making the right decision. He smiled reassuringly.
"Don't worry. The entrance is enchanted to look like a barrier, you just have to walk through it believing that you'll arrive on the platform and you will appear there."
Smiling nervously she closed her eyes and walked towards the barrier. Feeling a hand on her shoulder she blinked to find a scarlet steam train in front of her.
" So were are you heading?" The stranger asked as he opened the door for her.
"Hogwarts School." She answered nervously.
"So am I, have you organised a carriage?"
"Carriage?" She replied blankly.
"Ah, sorry. I should have realised at the barrier. The groundsman is collecting me at the station, I'm sure he'll be happy to give you a lift to the castle."
"Thank you." She muttered trying to hold back the tears but it was no use. "I'm sorry." She sobbed.
"It's okay. I'm a good listener if you need to talk (corny line, I'm sorry!)" She tried to smile but it quickly faltered as she thought back to the previous days.
Sorry that it was short but I wanted to see if anyone could guess who the mysterious woman was! Feedback welcome!
