A Comforting Lie

Far away under a tree,

Sit two people no one can see.

On is dark, one is light

One is Death, one is Life.

Death says to Life,

"I am swift and you are slow,

What comes after me no one knows,

I show them the truth, you feed them lies,

People love you, but despise me

Why?"

Life thinks and says,

"I take my time so they can live life,

I am lie, yes that is right

But it's a lie they need.

Because of Death, Life exists.

Without the light no one would appreciate the night."

Death turns away and hotly retorts,

"You make them human, I make them a corpse."

"No" Life says. "People live life because they die."

Death with tears in her eyes says

"if I disappeared, no one would cry, for I-"

"If you disappeared I would be eternal.

People would stop living life, and would simply live" Life cried

Death with tears streaming down her face, turns and smiles at him

"You may be a lie, but you are a comforting one."
