New View on Old Year's Night
Dean glanced at Sam, downing shots at the bar in a rare act of revelry, before turning to his own drink and new-found friend.
"It'll be midnight, soon," she prompted, after a while.
"I should check on Sam," he muttered, distracted, brother now out of sight.
His companion gave a wry smile. "You two've kept watch on each other all evening."
"It's been a tough year-"
"There, he's back from the bathroom," she interrupted. "You're a cute couple, you look like you belong together."
Dean gaped, before nodding. "You know, you're right."
He paused before leaving.
"Happy New Year!"
